Chlomid first round!

Hi ladies I thought I would start a new thread as it is so hard to find an 'in-date/active' thread.
I was put on chlomid because my clycle length is 34 days and have pcos. (the smallest form) me and my other half have been trying for a year this march after sadly losing out baby at 20 weeks.
I started my first round of chlomid this month (day 2-6) and am currently day 15 of cycle. Can anyone tell me if I should be getting side effects now? I'm getting very dizzy (with low blood pressure) bad tummy aches and quite bad fatigue! Oh and loss of appetite. I've been booked in for a blood test 10 days before af is due, does this sound right? Lots of ladies seem to be having blood tests sooner then this.
Also today I used my clear blue fertility monitor and it showed a high result, my pains are really bad, I'm struggling to walk.
Hopefully someone can shed some light on this.
Thank you xxx

It's my first cycle of Clomid this moth too, just got a BFN though. AF seems imminent, so at least then can get on and try SWI again!

I can't really help because I'm on my first round too this month. I'm on day 10 and starting to feel quite dizzy. Also suffering what I think are hot flushes at night. I tought the side effects were only supposed to be when you were taking them, I felt really quite worried that I had no side effects whatsoever when i was taking them, I thought it wasn't working if I didn't have any side effects! and now I'm starting to feel weird. Hope this isn't a sign of things to come!

oh and as for the blood test, shouldn't you be having a pelvic ultrasound as well? I am but not having a blood test.

My local NHS trust does not do ultrasounds and blood tests on your first go of Clomid. They give you 3 cycles/months of 50mg on days 2-6 and leave you to it.

If you don't get a BFP, you get a repeat appt. where they do follicle tracking and blood tests, and increase the dosage of the Clomid.

Apparently this is quite normal practice, and lots of NHS trusts don't bother with any other testing until after your first go.

I can only think no monitoring is done to save on cost; it is still poor practice though not to be monitored as the patient then has no real idea whether it is doing its job or not (clomid's main job is to make the ovaries work harder).

Clomid should be given to PCOSers with a degree of caution as it is not always suitable for such people to take. It can cause clomid resistance to happen.

Lots of- I would seek medical advice asap re the symptoms you are experiencing. If the blood test for progesterone is being done on or around day 21 this is the standard time it is usually done.

You should also be having a day 2 test to be checking and comparing your LH level against that of your FSH level; in PCOS the level of LH is often elevated.

Would also suggest you do not use the CBF monitor you have because that is likely to be giving you false readings. Clomid encourages the hormone LH to be produced, the kit is likely to be reading the clomid dosage.

Hi tHankyou. Well on Saturday I had to call NHs direct as my tummy pains got so bad and I also got chest tightening, after researching I was worried about hyper stimulation. Seems to be better now but still there. They just advised me to take paracetamol and keep an eye on it. Helpfull.
I'm day 19 today and just had my spoonful of honey if conception had happened apparently this helps. I think that the pains were when I was ovulating, well hope so. I wonder if my cycle will be shorter then 34 days.
Don't care how - hopefully you won't be getting any symptoms..I can't believe there are so many on this bloody drug! My docs said that they won't be scanning or anything to see if it's working, the proof is in the pudding basically. If I get pg it works if not....I've only been prescribed 3 months of clomid so hopefully it works sooner rather then later.
Not to be greedy, but twins would be lovely!!!!
Pipi - might be too early to test, don't cancel out hope yet, wait till you come on, if u don't test again in a few days xx good luck xx
