TTC dc #2 have not been on contraception since march 2010. Have had tests etc and been dignosed as poly cystic ovary but not necessarily syndrome (although im not ure of difference?!). Anyway can I still use OPKs? I have ha differing advice! My cycles are anything from 12-56 even 62 days, so would like to know if i am Ovulating at all! Scan showed left ovary looked for want of a better word manky comparable to right. TIA

I would have thought so, but you might need to use them for many days in a row before you get a positive. Good luck!

Hi BB

The OPK's didn't work for me - constantly faint positives as my hormones were a bit wonky. I also have polycystic ovaries and had very long cycles.

It's possible that you are not ovulating.

I would get some professional advice. Clomid plus hormones to stimulate ovulation might be a solution.

All the best of luck.

Ov sticks measure LH levels. There should be a peak leading to ovulation. In PCOS, the base levels of LH tend to be higher, so any peak you get may not be clear from the lines you'll see day to day.

Oh, and polycystic ovaries are very common. The syndrome is less common, but still lots for women have it. The distinction is your clinical picture. PCOvaries are simply seen on a scan. They may have no importance whatsoever. Syndrome is when the are 2 out of 1) polycystic ovaries 2) typical biochem - FSH/LH/Testosterone 3) irregular periods.

HTHs
