"Day 16 progesterone tes"? WTF?

I have just been to the doc's to start the ball rolling after TTC for a long time. She said from what I am saying - very regular periods, monthly peaks on the CBFM - that I am ovulating but has suggested a day 16 blood test to test progesterone. Surely this is far too early? I have a 27 day cycle and normally ovulate on day 13/14. Anyone any thoughts?

Until my cycle regulated to 41 days, I always had the progesterone tests done at 21 days, which I thought was the norm? 16 seems FAR too early?
