How long is this LH surge meant to last?

Another ov test question, sorry. I've been testing positive for LH for three days now. This morning's test line is darker than control and comes up quicker than the previous two days. How long is the surge meant to continue, and how soon after ovulation does it return to normal? Have looked in tcoyf but can't find timescales. Thanks.

You'll probably ovulate within the next 24 hours in that case - time to go back to bed!
Once you have a positive there is no point whatsoever in wasting sticks waiting for it to go back to negative. Most women will either ovulate on that day or the next day, the surge won't last more than 48 hours.

I would ask whether your menstrual cycle is regular in the first instance because if it is irregular these kits are not worth using.

They're pretty regular, 27-29 days. I'm not too bothered about wasting sticks as they're only cheap ones and I'd like to know what day I ovulate so I can have an idea for future cycles.

We are trying for every other day atm - your very good advice! I think every day would get pretty stressful. This seems regular and manageable.
