What Can Delay Onset of a Period?

I ask because despite being regular as clockwork (I cant remember not welcoming AF on day 27/28/29, really I just don't think it has ever happened) I am now 9 days late.

I have done 4 tests and each time BFN. Def BFN, no hint of anything else.

We have been ttc and are using the ovulation kits so it is possible I am pregnant.

But I really don't think I am. I don't feel it.

But where is my period? Periods of stress, bereavement, travel etc have never stopped it before.

the only thing different is that I am taking ferrous sulphate for borderline anaemia - but that can't be it can it?

When do I go to the doctor?

Tis a puzzle

TIA xxxx

You might have ovulated late. It can happen even in regular as clockwork people. If you are using ovulations kits, presumably you know when you ovulated. Was that 14 days +9 days ago? If so there is a chance you could be pregnant and not yet getting a +ve test. That can happen. A friend has 4 children and never had a +ve pregnancy test.

Hmmm. I did consider that the sticks might have got the Ov day wrong. They said I ovulated on Day 14/15...
When I conceived DD I OVd on day 19 so the late ovulation is not that rare, but my period being late is

I will give it, what, up to two weeks and then go to doc?

Thanks for responding!

You maybe just ovulated later this cycle so therefore af would arrive later. A positive opk does not always mean that you ovulated as your body can gear up to ovulate and then if you have stress or something ovulation could be delayed and you would get another positve opk. The number of days from af to ovulation can vary from cycle to cycle but your luteal phase normally stays pretty consistent.

This happened to me once. Normally have very regular periods, and one month I was 10 days late. Pregnancy tests all negative. Period arrived and cycle returned to normal afterwards. I think I've been 4 days late since then, but otherwise since my late teens (i.e. for 20 years) I have had clockwork cycles. I just put those 2 outliers down to normal variation.

You could be pregnant of course, so as you said, give it another week or so and then see your doctor if no period/no BFP.

Having body fat of less than 20% can do that for some ladies.

My period was two weeks late when I had swine flu. Have you been poorly?
