Hi,
I went to gynae yesterday and ive got a got a prescription for Provera and Clomifene. He said to take a pregnancy test first then if negative the provera to simulate a period.

I was too busy trying to remember which tablets to take and when and forgot to ask ...
What if pregnancy test is neg but im pregnant and its too early to get a positive result??

Will the provera cause miscarriage/defects?? Should I wait a couple of sex free weeks b4 taking it??

I would appreciate if someone can advise??

Many thanks.

I just got the same prescription and was thinking the same thing. I think it's down to how soon you want things to happen and if you're willing to wait a few weeks then by all means do. but if they've prescribed it for you, in all likelihood its because there is a problem which means that you are unlikely to be pregnant anyway.

I'm not sure if it causes miscarriage because if you read the information leaflet, it says that if your period doesn't come after taking it you should test to see if you are pregnant which suggests to me that it's not going to cause you to lose it. I think its more likely that it'll cause some hormonal problems for the baby...but I'm certainly no expert. Isn't provera just progesterone which is present in the pill? in which case its only about as bad for the developing baby as the pill would be if you unwittingly were pregnant whilst still taking it. so, bad, but not the end of the world.

Thanks for that.

It sounds logical. Ud think they'd of said wait 2 weeks without sex or no unprotected sex if it was going to do any harm.

Good luck. Hopefully we'l be announcing BFP's soon. Everything crossed, but legs!!
