Return of the Fucked Up Cycle - pointless woe-sharing, really.

I've spent three years trying to get my cycle to something approaching normality - I lost five stone, follow a low GI diet, take vitamin B, take metformin, had my ovaries drilled for Pete's sake. Together, the doctors and I got them from 90-100 days to 26-34 days.

And what's happened now? After a perfectly respectable 34 day cycle last month, I am currently on day 69 and counting. All home testing produces is a sarcastic laugh from the stick.

My body just Does Not Want normal cycles. It responds to something new for a couple of cycles, and then goes straight back to its old anovulatory ways. Just what is point?

This thread is the equivalent of a suppressed howl of fury through an open window. There isn't really a question for anyone to answer.

five stone??? well done you! I hear your pain - my cycles are screwed up too. it's depressing but all it takes is one normal cycle.
hope this horrible cycle ends soon for you.

Northey · 02/02/2012 10:44

Thanks shangers. I normally just get on with things, but today for some reason I am full of ire and woe. Possibly because this cycle is now double the length of the last one, which is kind of outside my mental tolerance for small variations.

How bad are yours?

Mine are screwed to so I feel your pain. My longest ever was 108 days. Over the past 2 years they haven't been too bad. One was 53 days but they tend to vary between 30-45 days. It's just so horrible having to wait. I feel like I spend my life waiting for af to show. Currently on cd39 so hoping I won't have to wait much longer!
I've never had any investigations done, just went with it really, but I'm thinking of going to the gp soon as am just fed up with it!
Hope yours turns up soon. Well done on everything you have done to try and regulate your cycles, you have more willpower than me!

It's just so frustrating, isn't it, Eliza? I never used to care two hoots, until I wanted to conceive and realised that most other people got three possible shots for every one of mine. Do go to the GP, if for no other reason than that my hospital has been really quite slow at moving on from one thing to another. You may be quite young, of course, but if you are anywhere near ivf cut off age, then you will want them to have finished trying everything else first before you go over the threshold.

Thanks Northey. I'm not very young, 40 is getting too close for my liking! But I am very lucky in that I have one DD. She was conceived whilst we were on a long holiday just after I got married. I guess the fact that we were away, had no stresses and were still very much in the honeymoon stage made it easy to conceive.
But now we are ttc #2 I have been paying a lot more attention to my cycles. I'm trying to be relaxed about it but it's difficult not to obsess about it and I am quite an obbsessive person. If only I could go on a long holiday again!
I hope you manage to get a BFP very soon. Bring on the next cycle!

How frustrating. Have you tried acupuncture Northey? Mine have gone from 32/34 days to 26/28 days so its done something to my cycles. Also well done you for the 5 stone, that is very impressive.

Thanks, carebear. Ttc was a great motivator!
