Folic acid

Hi All,

Having looked up and down all the aisles of Tesco, Asda, etc, they all stock a multitude of vitamins.

Reading up on the vitamins for me and him, to help us conceive, it looks like folic acid is the single biggest "helper" for both of us.
The 400 mcg seems to be the one vitamin, we should both be taking.

It looks quite inexpensive, at £1.00 for 120 in Tesco

Is this the right folic acid?

Is there any other worth while vitamins we should consider together, or as individuals.?

Maybe zinc for him? and vitamin D for me?
The Pregnacare and Wellman look quite expensive for what they are.

That is indeed the right folic acid. There has also been a big thing on vitamin D in the news this morning so I will be taking that also. My hubby takes a general multi vitamin which contains zinc anyway. Hope it helps - I stocked up while on offer last week :)

Thanks cherrbird,

I see the offer on in Tesco's
3 tubs of 120 for the price of 2 tubs
A tub is costing £1.00

So thats 360 tabs for £2.00

I don't think folic acid helps you conceive as such (although I might be wrong about that). The main aim is to prevent a baby developing spina bifida.

Zinc is supposed to be good for both parents to be. We both take the Pregnacare vits.

Yes the folic acid is to try and prevent neural tube defects. The online chemists have the pregnacare range cheaper, I think chemist direct is the cheapest I've seen.

I thought I'd done really well with pregnacare the other day and then found out I'd bought pg ones not conception .
