But the awesome, female GP in my surgery was on a locum and bailed.

So I'm left w/the two, utterly useless (except for being fast and loose w/drugs) male GPs.

DH wants the snip, but they won't give it to him until he's THIRTY - he just turned 28 in October!- b/c he's only fathered two children.

It doesn't appear we have a well woman clinic here, and I'll be damned if I'm letting either of these blokes anywhere near my bits, they're that useless.

ANY idea who to source a health practitioner or clinc who has experience fitting a diaphram or coil?

Thanks! I just found one in Dean Terrace. Will give them a phone on Monday. They arranged for my post natal check w/one of those creeps. Uh uh. The thought of that inept freak poking around my cervix sends chills down my spine.

I'm in Ayr Expatin and I always use Family Planning, they are so much better than my doctor surgery, they always make me feel welcome etc and I had a phobia of smears until I went there !

expat, just to add my experience of diaphragm fwiw ... i reckon that's how i'm now a mum
i was advised at the time tho, that i should only get one (& yep it was fitted properly etc) if falling pg wouldn't be a huge deal. others may be v. happy with theirs, but i wouldn't trust one again, esp if i really didn't want another babe.

i don't have many options, roos, b/c i'm being treated for PND and don't want to use any hormonal contraception for obvious reasons. progesterone and i don't get along.

i got pregnant on a progesterone-only pill. i still managed to ovulate despite taking it at the same time faithfully.

i've got issues w/the copper coil, so that's pretty much a no go for me.

that only leaves the diaphragm or cervical cap.

that's why DH had wanted the snip, but unless we pay for it privately - which we can't afford - he's going to have to wait.

i don't mind smears, but i do mind their being done by inept people who don't know what they hell they're doing.

Is a Gynaefix a "copper coil"? I had one for a while and it worked well.

I'm not getting a copper coil. It's just not for me. But I'd like to look into a cap or diaphragm.

I would definatly recommend the family planning service I had a really good expeirence too, like kidstrack I felt I was really listened too. Have you thought about an implant? I didn't have a good experince with mine but lots of mumnsetters have.
