Hi,
I too have very iregular cycles, at one point just 3 periods per yr, due to pcos. DD was conceived without trying - just dumb luck and at it like rabbits as it was a new relationship - it worked out fortunately. Trying to conceive #2 has been tricky. You can have sex every other day indefinately its friggin exhausting. Get some ovulation sticks - I got cheap ones off amazon. We conceived with them first go, but had mmc go its onwards and upwards again, but at least we can have a couple of nights off and a few vin's in between. Ov sticks are defo the best was forward for us with misbehaving bits!!

Good luck!! X

Hi ribs !!

Sorry to hear about your mmc that must have been very sad especially as it is is more difficult to conceive with pcos.

I tried ovulation sticks for two cycles but never once got a +ve result on them . I had very painful and irregular periods from the get go and had to take the pill at the very young age of 14 as my periods were causing me to miss school every month . I conceived DD while on the pill and now I have had my mirena out for almost 6 months and it's still not happened . It's so unfair Sad

Dtd every other night is far too unrealistic especially when you have dc and both work shifts Sad I'm beginning to get a bit disheartened . How long have you been ttc ribs ?

You need to find out exactly why this is happening because such issues do not fix themselves on their own.

Your menstrual history sounds awfully similar to my own and I was eventually diagnosed with endometriosis (that was the primary cause of the consistently painful periods) and PCOS (which was the cause of the irregular cycles).

Have you as yet sought medical advice; this sort of problem is however outside a GPs remit so you would need to have a gynae referral.

Both of you need to be evaluated further by a gynae, you need a diagnosis first and foremost. OPKs are a waste of time if cycles are irregular.

Yeah so af just arrived . 9 days earlier than last month !!! Aaaaargh !!!! I just hate not knowing what is happening !!! SadSad

Sorry attila I hadnt saw your post there . Yeah I think if it doesn't happen this cycle I may go to the dr and see if there is a reason behind it other than just being unlucky. It's just so frustrating and disheartening Sad

So sorry :(

How long have you been ttc?

I am extremely irregular, and was diagnosed with annovulation (ie I don't ovulate) and like you I found that the ovulation kits useless.

GP refered me to Fertility Clinic after 2 years, but to be honest I hadn't gone to her until then as I kept thinking it would just happen!

I was on Clomid for 6 months, which did make me more regular, but still failed to get preggers.

I went on to IVF, and on the second attempt with a Frozen embryo had my precious DD, who is 14 mo.

All ready to get back on the IVF train (It took 6 years from starting to ttc, for DD) and had an appointment with the same clinic last Wednesday...only to find that I'm pregnant!

So it can happen, I have had 2 periods since DD was born, but only problem is that I've no idea when I'm due!

andie that truly is such a heartwarming story and really puts things in perspective for me !!

I have only been trying for 6 months bit if feels like about 3 years as I had been desperate to have another for so long but was planning my wedding so done the sensible thing and waited . So infair .

Omg 2 periods so when was you last period and how did you fond out you were pregnant ?? it's very interesting !

My last 5 cycles have been 30 , 33 , 30 , 40 , 31 days long . It's so nt good !!

Well the drugs I needed to kick off the IVF treatment are dangerous if pregnant (Nothisterone to bring on AF) so had to poas, after what we had been through previously it never really entered my head that we would get pregnant naturally! Last period was November-ish, so will have to wait until dating scan to find out how far along I am.

Did a digital conception test (Clearblue) but all that told me was that i was more than 5 weeks, and that was last week.

It's worth finding out about your natural body signs of ovulation, such as changes to cervical mucus, ovulation pains etc I do confess (shush!) to thinking mid December that I could be ovulating, slight lower back pain, and what they call Egg White Cervical Mucus (EWCM) and jumping on DH! I kept that thought firmly repressed, as past experience showed I was never that lucky!

So maybe getting to know your own body might help!

Hi MrsC. I wouldn't call your cycles very irregular based on the list you posted. Apart from the 40, they are only 4 days apart in length. It's worth getting checked out as nothing is happening after a few months of trying but I wouldn't stress too much about the irregularity of your cycles. Not everyone is every 28 days on the dot!
