Ovulation confusion

OK, sorry if TMI but I am a bit new to this. Have 1 DD but she was a surprise - this time we are trying to be more scientific about it. I have just finished period, however not sure when to count from. I started spotting 3 days before my period. It was actual blood - but then the next two days nothing, then my 'proper' period started. So do I count my period from when I started spotting, or when it came properly and I had consistent bleeding? Thanks

Hi steben I'm in exactly the same boat!! TTC #2 when we didn't even try with DD & after SWI last month, started spotting 2 days b4 AF actually started.

I didn't realise that ovulation is counted back from your next period (i.e.14 days before is actually CD15 I think!!!) so as I have an irregular cycle, I have NO idea when I ov. However, the average is 10-16 days, do I figured if I did the maths for both AF starting on day 1 of spotting or day 3 and we DTD every other day throughout the cycle, we can't go wrong... If that doesn't work this cycle or nxt, its on to the OPKs!!

Thanks Chunkychicken and good luck! I was thinking about the OPKs but figure I will see if we have any luck this month first!

CD1 is counted from first proper flow rather than spotting, if it helps. But I really wouldn't worry about it, being in month-1 and all :)
