I have just found out that I have scarring in my uterus as a result of one or more of 7 ERPCs or similar. I found this out from having a private Hyfosy scan after my GP had decided 6 months ago kindly not to refer me for NHS investigations despite my suspicions. One of his, apparently several, reasons for not referring me was that he said that surgery for scarring could often cause more problems than were there in the first place.
I would really like to hear from anyone who has been in a similar position who has benefitted from having a hysteroscopy, and also if anyone has found themselves in a worse position as stated by my GP as I am trying to work out what to do.
I'm also trying to work out whether to go and give my GP what for as this refusal to refer me has cost me 6 months (so far) and at least £2000 if I decide to have it done privately, and yet more time if I wait for an NHS appointment. I am 42 and have lost 6 pregnancies and have no children, so time is not really something I have!
I've also been reading some of the Asherman's threads. Am I right in assuming that Asherman's is only when the scarring causes adhesions? I am concerned with the comments about it being so important to have surgery by the top experts in this field. Does this apply to scarring too? If I can -guilt trip- get my GP to fast track an NHS referral would this be a good idea, or would it be more prudent to try and find the money and have it done privately?
