Temping question

Hi I'm new here, have been lurking for a while, reading but not posting but I have a temping question I'm hoping you ladies can help answer. I've just come off the pill, my last one was 1st jan, me and DH are trying to conceive our first. So I have been temping since day 1 of this first cycle but think I've been making a school girl erro! My alarm goes off the same time each day, I take a small mouthful of drink, press snooze and 9 mins later I take my temp. I've just started thinking what if the drink of water is hiding my true temp, im on CD20 and no sign of a shift indicating ovulation. I know it is possible that I haven't ovulated yet with it being my first month of the pill. But just hoping that I will be able to see the temp change when it does happen. What do you ladies think?

You need to temp the minute you wake up, before doing anything else at all. So no drink, no snooze etc It has to be after a minimum 3 hr stretch of sleep and immediately on waking so it is quite likely the drink and snooze have adversly affected your temps.

Are you using [www.fertilityfriend.com fertility friend]] and have you done the charting course. This should help a great deal!

oops! should be this

busylady99 · 24/01/2012 21:36

Izzy is right you should do it at the same time each day after you wake. As you've done exactly the same thing each morning I would continue to do that for the rest of this cycle as any impact on your temperature would be the same each day iyswim - it's relative.

However, like you I'm on my first cycle after the pill and although I had had other fertility symptoms I hadn't detected a thermal shift by CD 21. I had a little mope on the shuttle thread I'm on and hey presto the next morning my temp jumped up.

Keep tracking and good luck

Yes, don't drink! You will be getting the temp of the water you have just swilled round your mouth. Temp as soon as your alarm goes off, without drinking or moving much at all.

Saying that, I wait until 7:30 to temp even though DH has started setting his alarm at 6:45 this week. I read that it should be taken within 30mins of your regular wake up time. I fell back to sleep on Saturday until 9:30 and my temp was 0.2'C higher than my post-thermal shift high so it definitely affects it.

PS I'm loving FF which another MN recommended to me. I love little more than a good chart to obsess over occasionally refer to.

Thanks ladies, i was thinking I should keep it the same for this cycle and then try again next cycle so it's good to hear you suggesting the same. I've also had a few other signs in the last few days, ewcm on days 17, 18 and a little on 19 have had a bit of period type pain d19 and d20 so keeping my fingers crossed for a temp change soon.

I know things can take some time to come back to normal after the pill so I need to be patient, but it's not something I'm good at!

Good luck to you too busylady

I have the ff ap on my phone, love it too but fear I am already obsessed, sometimes I look at my chart multiple time in a day, not really sure what I think will have changed since I looked a few hours earlier! Wish I was busier at work!
