Always thought we'd want a decent age gap but we've changed our minds and would like number two sooner. Does anyone have any tips or experience of getting preggers while bfing ...

If you have been exclusively breastfeeding you may not have restarted ovulating yet, but that's no reason not to try!

We are also trying for no2, still BFing.

How old is your BFing DC? Do you BF on demand, no formula? Are your periods back?

There was a thread before, here. I'm sure there was another too, I'll go see if I can find it.

I have a small gap between children and the thing that shocked me was that BF went back to being sore (and I was exhausted!) no one told me so it came as a shock and I felt awful but I've since found out that two other friends had similar experiences.
I would recommend using NFP. Essentially sorry if TMI but as soon as you notice a difference in the discharge in your knickers towards being stretchy that's your body's sign that you're ready to go!
Best of luck :)

I too would like a second (DD is 15 weeks) so am going to try expressing some feeds. EBF is apparently 98% effective as contraception :(

How old is your baby? I didn't get my periods back until mine was 14 months and I had dropped night feeds. My friend who was BF did get pregnant when her daughter was 14 months old, her periods actually hadn't even returned yet so it is possible! Good luck!

As far as I know, if you don't have AF, you won't know for certain if you're ovulating... At least, you'll know you will have ovulated approx 2wks before you're first AF since getting pregnant. If you get pregnant on that first go, it makes it difficult to date the pregnancy without a scan, so prob best to wait for that.

I EBF my DD but when she was about 4mths, my periods returned. No idea why, although she had started feeding much less I suppose - I was still night feeding for a couple weeks more, because I remember the first night she went from a dream feed at 11 to 7 am before waking was a few weeks later. I think it varies from woman to woman - my Mum didn't get her AFs until she stopped feeding me (& later my sis) at 9mths.

I guess its up to you - if no AFs then you have to decide whether EBF is more important than getting pregnant right away. If you have AFs, there's nothing stopping you (except for the sensitive nips again as Punch said)!!!

Good luck TTC.
