Hello all waves madly

Well my body decided to be play silly buggers the past couple of months. On my first cycle TTC, no less! AF arrived today, on CD46. HARRUMPH. Har har good joke, ladybits! Angry

But I am very delighted to see her in fact because I means my two months of confusion is over and I can now get cracking on this shiny new cycle!

Who's with me???? This is a glorious Superlux Superbus (the kind you'd see US presidential candidates rolling about in), with all de mod cons (dedicated champers fridge and shiny chrome margarita blender).

Zara1984 - TTC#1, Cycle 2, AF due 24 Feb

StetsonsAreCool · 29/01/2012 22:44

I'll be vicarioulsy POAS then. Got a whole month before I'll get to do it myself. Hope you get a good outcome from your 2ww. Never done one of these threads before so I don't know what else we do other than SWI (and report back) and POAS.

Was the shuttle a successful one then? I know there are a few staying on with us, but everyone's comments make it sound like that was the one to be on.

Chunkychicken · 29/01/2012 22:51

It seemed like every time I checked some other cow lovely lady was getting her BFP and I was turning green with Envy Trying desperately to be a solidarity 'sister' and empathise/be happy for others good fortune, but I began to become a tad unhinged find it difficult to maintain good humour, so parachuted from the shuttle & stepped aboard the bus!! So fingers crossed for everyone this month :)

My cycle is so fucked messed up I'm not actually sure when I should have ov or get AF, so actually makes it a bit easier not to think of it as the 2WW & just hope that DTD today will be the one. Well, I can tell myself that & live in hope huh??!!

TooMuchRumba79 · 30/01/2012 16:12

Hey everyone!!
So good to see y'all, so many new faces!! Wine
Bought some cheap ov test sticks online and started my sneaky operation (cue Mission Impossible tune, although hopefully won't be impossible - just picture me dressed in all black, sneaking like a ninja into the bathroom with my cup and sticks) - DH thinks we shouldn't stress too much and should just 'let it happen'. Think I will stress less if I know there's def something happening down there! It's early days yet, of course, only cycle 3 but feel like the clock is ticking and I got no time to dilly-dally with these things!

Anyone else using those darn sticks??

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 30/01/2012 16:32

TooMuchRumba79 I am also using the bloody sticks.

This is my first cycle of TTC and first of using opks - kind of wish I'd used them in another less pressured cycle as it seems that all I do all day is try not to go to the loo or drink too much (or not enough water, which of course will affect the CM!).

I've been charting for four cycles and had felt quite comfortable about when I felt I was ovulating but the opks are sending me around the bend because I still haven't had a positive, even though I shouldn't really expect one yet (on CD12).

My DH also thinks we should let it happen, but equally he knows nothing pregnancy so there's sticks everywhere!!

PrimalChic · 30/01/2012 16:45

I'm with you chunkychicken, was so sure the shuttle was going to be lucky for me and when AF arrived, I was really surprised! DH told me off for too much MN-ing as he thinks I was getting a bit obsessed. Nah...! I went through 4 first response tests and 5 boots tests, it was a very expensive month.

I've been told that this month I'm not allowed to take a test until The day after AF is due. Hmph. I'm making up for it through self medicating with wine.

PrimalChic · 30/01/2012 16:51

must does the amount you drink affect our CM? I never thought of that! Drank a skinful of wine on Saturday (still paying for it now, I'll never learn) and CM was almost zero yesterday. It's supposed to be O-day so I was worried I'd got my dates wrong. Hmm I didn't know hangovers had affects down there!

TooMuchRumba79 · 30/01/2012 17:13

I'm on CD10, fear I've been drinking too much today and won't be able to get an accurate reading!! Decided to start testing almost as soon as AF buggered off and also keeping an eye on CM (thanks ladies for the CM tips!)
I'm sure you'll get a positive real soon MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet!!
PrimalChic - they say not to drink too much (of anything) couple of hours before testing, as it might dilute your wee (I think...Hmm.

Have to say, MN is my internet 'porn' too!! (used to be properties, now it's baby stuff)
Got first response tests and CB digis gathering dust in the drawer, hope to get to use them one day!
Now pour us some wine please dahling!

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 30/01/2012 17:59

PrimalChic I have definitely read (in my copious hours of research) that amount of cervical fluid - I guess like any bodily fluid - is also dependent on how hydrated you are.

And have also heard that re: drinking too much can throw off your tests!!! Arghh!!

Magneto · 30/01/2012 19:11

Oh god I thought hormones weren't supposed to make me teary until I was actually pregnant! I've just almost burst into tears watching an advert for a film about rescuing a whale. Really glad dh isn't home yet!

I'm not using any tests, just going to swi every other day or so [knackered emoticon] as it's my first cycle. I have a period tracker on my iphone but that's about as far as I'm going this month with tracking things (at least if I do conceive I'll be able to tell the doctor the dates of my last period, I'd completely forgotten all the dates with ds!).

sunshinejanuary · 30/01/2012 19:47

I'm with stetson definitely living vicariously with the POAS! Think I must be about 2 days after ovulation but a guesstimate. Already dreaming about the blasted sticks! It's ridiculous! Spent afternoon with others all trying to conceive so between that an man I'm already totally obsessed!

Chunkychicken · 30/01/2012 21:16

Hi all, hope you're good.

Good to learn about being dehydrated affects CM - although it is obvious now I think about it!!!

Not quite sure where I am in my cycle - cd16 or 18 (has weird/v unusual for me spotting before AF so wasn't sure where to start my cycle) and my tracker suggests I should have ovulated, but that's not reliable. CM unreliable as get v dehydrated at work and then played sport & drank a reasonable amount of alcohol (but def not drunk) at the weekend... Could be in the 2WW but not sure.

Have had sore boobs since last wk but think that's ovulation (a nice symptom that my body conveniently began in time for us TTC) and don't feel preggo at all BUT far far too early anyway.

At least all the uncertainty this time must mean the 2WW will be a little less obsessive - I'll just have to hold out for another 3wks or so, ignoring every little twinge or symptom. How hard could that be??!!!

ChairOfTheBored · 31/01/2012 06:38

Morning all

How's everyone getting on. Have started taking the whole temperature taking lark more seriously this month, but have not idea what I'm supposed to be looking for.

Any clues?

ddas · 31/01/2012 07:52

sorry no idea re temps as only use opks. AF due on the 7th and starting to go a bit mad with the waiting and symptom spotting!! feel nauseous like did with ds but I remember that the folic acid tablets have that affect on me as well so likely to be nothing but here's hoping! with ds got a bfp 6 days prior to AF being due so caved in this morning and bfn and i couldn't help but feel so disappointed. just need to tell myself that it's too early so there's still hope and try and hold out testing till next week!! fingers crossed for all of us.

Chunkychicken · 31/01/2012 09:00

Sorry Chair don't do temps myself but from what I gather from MN you're looking for a rise in temp, which indicates you've ovulated. Seems a bit like shutting the gate after the horse has bolted to me (what if you can't DTD immediately then??) but I guess you can start to predict ov after a few charts...

Ddas it is very hard, esp if its DC#2, to not compare and try to predict. Perhaps you ovulated later this time or it took longer to implant... Either way, there could be loads of reasons why there's not enough HcG to test +ve yet. FX for you.

I keep trying to predict my ov & HOPING big time that I ovulated on Fri or Sat as we've been way too exhausted to DTD since Sat, and now I wonder if we missed the window :( It's so hard to DTD every other day when you both work, have DD and DH gets up at 5.10 & doesn't get in til gone 7pm at the earliest. I want to get pg soon so we don't feel we have to have sex all the time, just when we want to.

floatinglotus · 31/01/2012 09:09

Hi all, just peeking back in here after having been away for almost a week! I was ill last week with an infection so wasn't sure whether we would be able to DTD this month, but I'm feeling loads better so can stay on the bus! This week is SWI time- saw first hint of EWCM yesterday, so that's exciting.

Chairofthebored- temps are really only good for confirming ovulation, so you'll need to observe CM or use OPKs to try and predict when you're about to ovulate. But when you see that big temp rise, you can then hopefully be pretty sure of successful ov the day before.

StetsonsAreCool · 31/01/2012 09:32

Morning all. I think we'll be delaying TTC for another while yet. I've just been made redundant Sad

So there's no chance of us being able to afford a #2, unless they offer me a spectacular package (highly doubtful).

Hopefully I won't see you on future buses (you know I mean it in the nicest way possible), got my fingers crossed for lots of bfps this month for you all.

Chunkychicken · 31/01/2012 11:14

Oh no Stetson that sucks. Best of luck with everything and maybe see you again on a pregnancy/parenting forum :)

Sticklebricksuk · 31/01/2012 11:41

Argggh I'm in the 2ww and finding it a bit stressy. That said I've been using opks and haven't had a positive so now panicking that I'm not actually ovulating but I'm having periods so does that mean I am?! Maybe I'm just doing it wrong?! Finished the box of opks on cd18 and am refusing to buy any more as there in madness lies, I'm just telling myself it'll happen and stop being so tense about it. Easier said than done eh?! Symptom spotting and thinking things taste weird but suspect its my over active imagination. Blush Fingers crossed for this bus for all us ladies x

piggyboo · 31/01/2012 12:40

ddas i think we're cycle buddies, AF due on the 7th too. I didn't ovulate until CD18 so only 5dpo so not going to test until Saturday at the earliest.

stetson sorry to hear that, hope u get back on the buses soon x

stickle I didn't get a + opk last month and i know i definately ovulated from my temps so it doesn't necessarily mean you haven't ov'd. I also had every preg symptom going last month, bloating, gas, nausea, sore bbs, funny metallic taste in mouth. So this month i'm ignoring my body completely the only sign i'm gonna pay attention to is 2 lines on a stick!

Good luck to those testing soon x

backwardLFDTpossom · 31/01/2012 12:42

Oh Stetson that's bad news :( Good luck from here x

Chunkychicken · 31/01/2012 13:09

Piggyboo know exactly what you mean about symptom spotting. Did that and obviously wasn't pg so am half trying to keep an eye on my body to get used to my cycle/work out when I ov and half trying to ignore every little twinge/freak thing in case I start thinking its a symptom... V schizophrenic!!!

Stickle I think that you can miss the LH surge if you only POAS once a day... but I'm no expert. I was thinking about getting the OPKs so DH & I could target our SWI a bit more but equally agree, it becomes a bit too all-consuming & easy to obsess.

Pipbin · 31/01/2012 18:18

Toomuch I have been using OPK sticks too and got a positive for the second time in 6 cycles last months. And that was testing with a wee that was the second one of the morning. When I'm around OV time I'm testing just about every wee. It's near impossible to get a positive.
So I've started temping this month. But I agree, it'll only tell me too late.

DH has got his second SA test on Saturday. He has been told to retake it but they never told us why!

Also, I have booked a holiday for April so I've got something else to think about and you can guarantee that I'll be pg by then. Sods law being what it is.

notthehippopotamus · 31/01/2012 18:23

Bad news, Stetson, I'm sorry. Hope you don't have to put it off for too long :(

As floatinglotus says I use temps to confirm that I've ov'd and am in the 2WW, and then when they fall again you know AF is about to arrive - or rather you cross your fingers every morning that they stay up. 18 high temps = pg apparently, if anyone can be patient enough to wait that long without POAS anyway! Hmm

Chunkychicken · 31/01/2012 19:21

I was 5wks pg when I POAS with my DD... but then I didn't have any choice, we were on honeymoon and I couldn't get a English test!! I believe it was nearly 21 days after ovulation/conception, as that was the only time we DTD that would be around the right time iyswim.

This time I doubt I will wait 2wks let alone 3... :)

TuesdayNightClub · 31/01/2012 19:32

Stetson I'm sorry to hear that. I hope this will be a step to bigger and better things for you.

Chair I have started monitoring my temp this month, but have no idea what I'm looking for either. My BBT is 36.3 though, that seems quite chilly to me! I have signed up to FF and enjoying watching my graph grow each day! Also using OPKs but that doesn't seem to have helped so far. Unfortunately the longer I am off the pill, the more screwed up my cycles are becoming which is very frustrating! Confused
