If I'm pregnant, I concieved on NYE so am only about 4 or 5 days late.
I am due to have a smear test tomorrow but am a bit worried about having one done if I am pregnant (should I be?).
I have no pregnancy symptoms and am very grouchy so feel I could as easily come on as be pregnant.
My question, after all the rambling, is if I do a test, will it show if I am pregnant?

Yes, I think so, if you're late.

Hi Blondiep,

I went to have a smear test on Monday and the nurse asked if there was a chance i could be pregnant. I said possibly (it would have been very early days) as we have just started TTC and she said they wont do the smear test until they know that im not pregnant. She advised that i come back straight after my period has ended rather than wait for mid cycle or not to worry if i get a BFP.

So, after that long sentance im not sure if testing is needed to rule out a smear test or not, if there is any chance you are pregnant then i guess they wouldnt do a smear test. I would do a test anyway if you are late so you atleast know.

Hope this made some sort of sense and helps a little bit Smile

If you are late it should come up positive. Did you test yet ????

minceorotherwise · 18/01/2012 17:12

Sorry, I obv mean it should come up positive if you are pregnant, not just because you are late !!!!!

Thanks all, I haven't tested yet, don't feel pregnant at all and don't want to waste a fiver (and maybe get hopes up?).
Phoned docs and had the same advice re the smear so that is on hold until I know either way.
Guess tomorrow will be test day!
