Just wondered if there was anyone to chat to in a similar position to me.

I'm 26, ttc for 2 years now. Never had a positive and starting to lose hope.

I'm thinking of going to the drs but been putting it off as I don't want to admit there's a problem.

All the women in my family are super fertile so what's wrong with me?

Same boat, 26 and trying for 2 years. Please go to the docs! It might be a completely unrelated problem (e.g. thyroid or PCOS). For me it was a thyroid problem which is treated now but I'm still not PG a year on. I'd go if only just to feel that you weren't completely helpless in the whole thing. When I went I felt that at least I could feel like I was doing SOMEthing about it.

And don't lose hope! Although I know the hoping part is particularly difficult to deal with!

Thank you! Maybe I will call, I have a lovely dr too.

I was on depo for a bit and think that has messed it up. My cycles are regular and normal now.

I guess I'm not rushing to the drs as I'm more relaxed ttc, I do use ovulation sticks but dont temp/chart. Still makes me Sad when my period arrives. Do you temp?

Also my do might be the the one with the issue, he wants to go drs.

I'm 27, been ttc for a year now. GP won't run any tests or refer me til 18 months though, I suspect because I am "young".

salmonskinroll · 18/01/2012 10:06

I hope the 6 months go quick popcorn or you get your bfp before then!

Are you temping/charting?

How often do you all dtd?

PopcornMouse · 18/01/2012 11:17

Hi salmon :)

Yes I temp on FF and I bought a CBFM at the start of this cycle coz it's fun :o I have hypothyroidism too but it's been well controlled for over a year now (TSH under 2). I'd recommend charting, it's really interesting and shows you exactly when you ovulate - one cycle I got a +OPK but didn't ovulate til a week later, when I got a 2nd +OPK and a temp rise. If I didn't chart I'd have never known.

We try to dtd about every third day for most of my cycle, but I try and ramp it up to every other day the week before I ovulate (but I don't tend to tell DH when that is, as I don't want to stress him out) and every day over ovulation. So it's not lack of sex, sadly!

I have my panicky moments, but I'm not too concerned about waiting til the Summer, really - I'm not sure DH would be ready to dtd with a plastic beaker before then :o he is only just getting his head around the fact it's been a year and there may be a problem.

Oh - and I've never had a BFP either, not even a sniff of one!

salmonskinroll · 19/01/2012 08:45

That really interesting re the charting showing you didn't ovulate til a week later!

I don't even know if I am ovulating as I was on depo for a bit which screws up your testosterone which makes you ovulate Confused

I've had positive opks. I don't personally think we have sex enough at the moment as DP has a lowish sex drive so I'm not on panic mode yet, I just think we aren't doing it on the right days!

I hope you get your bfp!

Yep, me! I'm 27, DH 26. We stopped using birth control in summer 2009 and have not had even a hint of a BFP since then. We've alternated between actively trying and just not preventing in that time (back to actively trying now), but nothing seems to be happening either way.

It's been a long time, but I've actually not considered going to the GP yet because we haven't been actively trying for 12 months in a row...I wasn't sure whether if turning up and saying "we've been having random unprotected sex for most of the last 2.5 years and nothing's happened" would get me any testing, especially as we're young.

salmonskinroll · 20/01/2012 08:24

I was say you've been trying since 2009 floating that's 3 years this summer, would be a good idea to go. Hope you get your bfp!

OP posts:
PopcornMouse · 20/01/2012 09:04

I think if you said you'd not been using protection for 3 years, floating they'd have to take you seriously!

cakes82 · 20/01/2012 14:33

I'm 29 been trying for 15 months. I went to dr at 10months but only because I had a am I aren't I moment. Have had all the non-op tests and waiting to see consultant for his opinion. i would say we dtd every 2 or 3 days most months sometimes more sometimes less. I don't temp or anything just keep an eye on CM. Although its been over the year i'm trying to stay 'relaxed and not obsessed' about such matters not that it really works

Even if only for peace of mind go see your Dr.

salmonskinroll · 20/01/2012 15:10

What tests do they do? Do they check for blocked tubes?

OP posts:
cakes82 · 20/01/2012 16:28

The Dr will send you for day 3 and day 21 blood tests to check your hormones. also send Mr Salmon for SA and then depending on results and anything that may show up dr will hopefully refer you to gynae. Gynae may well get some tests repeated depending on results. It seems to be a very common thing to send you for a HSG which will check your tubes. There is a small amount of evidence that the HSG can remove small blockages and lead to the BFP. Each Dr and hospital does things slightly differently depending on your specific medical history.

salmonskinroll · 20/01/2012 16:35

Thank you, think I will call and get some blood work done, can't hurt!

OP posts:
cakes82 · 20/01/2012 16:38

Can't hurt at all. Forgot to mention gynae will probably do an internal u/s as well
