Don't think it's any earlier based on my friends who've had IVF. Sorry.

Gumby · 17/01/2012 19:09

My GP wouldn't do a test
Just told me to do a HPT

curiousgeorgie · 17/01/2012 19:09

Thats okay, its not for me :)

Its settling an argument other the 2ww, and 'why don't women just go to the gp rather than wait'

Haha...

Waste of money going to go. Sticks are same measure 25 micrograms of Bhcg so more concentrated wee is easier to get a result

the HPT is the earliest, earlier than a DR could tell you, because all they'd do would be bloods, and if its picked up by bloods it would be picked up by HPT

Theoretically a Dr could tell before a HPT because hcg shows up in your blood 24-48 hours before your urine.

A doctor could do a blood test at about 10-11 dpo but you'd have to wait for the results and by then you could have peed on a stick.
Also the doctor will refuse to do the blood test as it would be a phenomenal waste of money if all ttc women came in for early blood tests every month.
A doctor would not be able to tell by examination until you were a couple of months pregnant I reckon.
