Sadly I had a mc in sept 2011. We have been ttc ever since. I started recording my BBT Chart in January and I have noticed I have very low temperatures throughout my cycle although I have a regular 28 day cycle. I went to doctors who has sent me for a blood test tomorrow for possible underactive thyroid. I have all the symptoms of feeling the cold and frequent trips to the loo. I am worried that if it is hypothyroidism and they put me on medication they will they ask me to stop ttc, how long will it take for mediaction to work? Can I carry on ttc whilst on medication. I'm 40 I have two children and desperately want another, I don't really have a lot of time on my side. Has anyone else been through this or can advise. Thank you.

Hiya, I have under active thyroid, the pills are called levothyroxine, the dose is dictated by the severity. I had ds while on them and ttc another. I was not told that they made any difference to ttc, but it does make a difference to your anti natal care. I was consultant led throughout and baby needs to gateway little blood test when born as there is a little risk of anti bodies being passed on.

Ooh forgot to mention drugs take about 8-10 weeks to get going in your system!
