After Caesarian how soon can we start thinking about making another baby?

I had a Caesar in July, my pregnancy was very smooth, and the reason for Caesar was due to my DS umbilical chord being wrapped around his neck twice, poor thing. My husband and I really would like another baby so our children can be close in age, can anyone tell me when would be safe to get pregnant again?

Hi, congratulations on the safe arrival of your little boy. I was told a year after my csection, but have friends who have only waited 6 and 9 months and have both been fine.

I have had 3 and have never been told to wait. I waited 4/5 months between first two and will hopefully have 3/4 between the last and next. Maybe it's different if you have complications but I was fine.

I think its a year before trying to conceive to have less risk to the next birth but if I were you I'd ask your HV/MW/Doctor/someone.

I was told six months before trying to conceive so that there is at least a year between the two c-sections, but best ask your doctor.

I had one in July and was told to wait 6 months TTC (I was 36 at the time). I'm due an elcs next months 19 months after the first, my consultants are completely fine with this.

hey there, like yourself i had my son in july and my hubby and i have already discussed trying for another baby as i want them close in age. i had an ect cuz my son johnathan was born with gastroschisis were his bowel was on the outside, he spent 6 weeks in hospital and is absolutely fine now so big and healthy cant believe hes 6 months now lol, i was told waiting 6 months after my c sec which is around now to try again but im on cerazette pill so when i come off it were going to use condoms so i get a proper period then start trying, was told id have a better chance conceiving when i have a normal time of the month before trying. good luck with baby making lol and keep n touch as would love to hear of baby number 2 xxo

I had an emcs and was told a year before trying was a good idea, 2 would be ideal. But plenty of people get pregnant much sooner without having problems. I waited 4yrs for many reasons.

I have a 4 month old born by emcs again and the idea of pregnancy fills me with horror right now. I'm always in awe of people who have small age gaps.

WOW! thanks for all your advice, my Doc has said 6 months onward, but living in Cyprus I just wanted to double check as Docs over here have been known to be more money motivated than best of health....

Mummycooper, sorry to hear you had a scarey start with your DS, however, it is great what Docs can do these days and yes doesn't time fly!! I can't believe my DS is 6 months either!! And becoming quite the handful LOL...

Showofhands, I am 38 now and would like to try and have at least one more before I hit 40 hence the slight rush on my part :)
