hi. we are ttc no 2 and i very rarely have periods. but we had sex saturday night then today i got a positive on an ovulation stick. now he is away till thursday. is there a hope in hell that saturday nights antics could still get me pregnant or is it just too early?

probably sounds mental but its pretty damn hard trying to concieve when your husband works away!

Hi - yes you're in with a chance! Have you been to the GP about your lack of periods?

Robotindisguise · 16/01/2012 11:42

I have to say I think it's unlikely. The OPK indicates a surge of hormones which take place before ovulation, so you're likely to ovulate within the next 48 hours. If, say, it's on Tuesday, that's around 3 days since doing the deed. Sperm can survive that long, but it's a best case scenario. Sorry to be bleak, I do feel for you x

Robot I for one usually ovulate the same day I get a +OPK, judging by my basal temperatures - so it can happen! :)

Glad you've had it investigated Jen :)

When were these tests done; anything over six months ago should be discounted.

Cystic follicles associated with PCOS can disappear and it can also take a skilled sonographer to spot this. Also the ovaries can appear larger than "normal" walnut size.

What blood tests were done and on which days?. Have they checked to see if there are any problems with your thyroid gland; that can cause a lack of periods.
