TTC and chickenpox

Hello
After 2 miscarriages last year my DH and I have been looking forward to starting to TTC again. My nearly 3 year old DD has just started with chickenpox and I haven't had it. I'm torn between waiting any longer to TTC and waiting to see if I get chickenpox from DD as I've been in such close contact with her. .

If i got chickenpox, would there be a risk this early, or should we wait and see what happens , then TTC on another cycle?

Any thoughts on this are welcome.

I would wait if I were you.
I had chickenpox as an adult and it was awful, 1 months of illness and very weak, 10 days bed ridden (I could not walk without fainting...), and finally had to be on antivirals to stop the spots appearing.
If you haven't have it before you will definitely catch it from your daughter, but many adults (and their parents) forget they had it.
It is only a months or 2 to wait.
incubation is 10 to 21 days.

I'm guessing from your post that you didn't have chickenpox as a child? If you did you should be fine?

I would advise not getting pregnant - for the sake of 3 weeks of taking precautions its not worth it. Google chicken pox whilst pregnant and then make your decision......

Thank you for your replies. I think deep down I knew what the answer would be. To not hold off TTC for a month would be a bit silly!
I know a month isn't really a long time, it's just that had I not miscarried last year I would have have a baby by now. I've got my head around that by thinking, new year, new start and now to put that on hold is another thing that I need to get my head around!
Also, I didnt realise that having chickenpox as an adult could be that bad!

Hi RachelJane,

I would prob advise you waited, only becuse a woman in my office was 3 months pregnant and got chickenpox from her kids, and unfortunatly, had to make the heartbreaking decision of a termination due to the complications it causes.

So, i know its rare and you might not get it but god, just to be safe,id wait it out!!

Good Luck
