Angels and Rainbows - The beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. But it can provide colour and hope.

“Rainbow Babies” is the understanding that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. When a rainbow appears, it doesn’t mean the storm never happened or that the family is not still dealing with its aftermath. What it means is that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkness and clouds. Storm clouds may still hover but the rainbow provides a counter balance of color, energy and hope.

Hi all, not been around much this week as so busy with half term!!
ciwi Im really pleased you got your date sorted now, two weeks will fly by, so very exciting.
cheese so pleased that Ella is doing so well, cant wait for the news that you have taken her home.
too Im doing ok to be honest, just finding it difficult to sleep at night now as soooo uncomfortable. 31+1 now, 6 weeks today until my section date so very jealous of you ladies over the next few weeks Grin

My best friend should be in theatre now as I type, her waters went this morning at 35+2 but baby is breech so a section was the only way to go. I am so excited for her but defo envious that she has managed to go early!!

Really hope you are doing ok blizy and you also fan after your mothers remarks.

fanjodisfunction · 19/02/2012 07:52

Had a really lovely few days of chillaxing with DH, we had a lovely walk yesterday and a chat about things. We so want a child but we are so grateful that we had opheliaa.
I'm trying to persaude him to let me have a couple of rats as pets, I think he's coming round to it, or at the very least a hamster. I feel that I need to look after something, not a baby substitute but I just feel I need to nurter something and plants are not enough.

Can't believe how close some of you girls are getting now! I'm excited to hear the news of the arrivals and hear the names you have decided on.

I'm back to normal gardening duties in two weeks time they can't keep me in the office anymore, but I have managed to wangle it so that I'm with the planting crew so no working with chemicals so a lot safer for when ttc.

fanjodisfunction · 19/02/2012 07:54

wtw so if you see a female working on the flower beds in f'town could be on the roundabouts or the ones by the library that's me!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 19/02/2012 10:37

Rats, Fan? Are they nice? I like the idea of having something to nuture. My dog is a great comfort and requires lots of nurturing - he'll come and cuddle up to you when he's cold or lonely, and if you're upset he'll come and sit next to you and try to lick your face. We both work full-time so we got a dogwalker to come in at lunchtimes and she takes him out for about 2 hours, sometimes longer. It's lovely to have something that you can make happy so easily - scratch his ears, take him outside and throw a ball, feed him - he jumps for joy when you take him out, and it cheers us up to watch his uncomplicated pleasure. Planting things also sounds nurturing! Do you enjoy it?

Razz, I'm finding it hard to sleep too, most of the time. I spent all last night rolling over and over. I was so uncomfortable before bed, though - constant BH and rock hard tummy, but it's gone this morning.

fanjodisfunction · 19/02/2012 11:41

too i really do enjoy planting and looking after my flowers. I have missed in the past 18 months because I was at my parents house and couldnt do anything really, they are very proud of their garden and well its theirs, not mine.

Rats I really want because they are clever and small and you can teach them tricks. I really want a ferret, as I used to have one before but he died within the year of a terrible illness. They are so funny and playful, but we cant really have on in this flat, and I would like to have them oputside anyway. So rat seams the next best thing. We cant have cats or dogs, I would love a dog but DH doesnt like them and also its not fair to not have a garden.

He did seam to come round to my way last night but we have to thing of somehere in the flat to put them.

blizy · 19/02/2012 11:43

Thinking of you blue and blizy xx

I have just had midwife appt, glucose again despite it being a before breakfast sample and my bump is measuring at 36 weeks (I am 31.4). Now waiting for appt for growth scan though the feeling is that it is more to do with my fluid level than size of baby...........always something to worry about. Have any of you ladies experienced this?

Good news is that my bf had a perfect little boy weighing 5lb9, he is lovely.

blizy · 20/02/2012 14:23

razz A woman on my antenatal thread had this, she was measuring way ahead of her dates think she was measuring 43 weeks at 38! Anyway she had a healthy 6 pounder, she was carrying loads of fluid.
Hope you are ok?

Oh and congrats to your bf.

CheeseandGherkins · 20/02/2012 14:53

We came home on Thursday afternoon with Ella and she's been doing really well since then! Feeding lots, waking properly for feeds and has put on another ounce taking her to 5 pounds 5 after she lost some weight in hospital.. Taking her to see the midwife and be weighed then discharged tomorrow, fingers crossed for more weight on! Dd1's birthday on Sunday, she'll be 10, so we need to get out and sort her presents out and a cake.

I'm very tired and still adjusting to having her home but we are getting there slowly :) She was awake from about 4.30 last night feeding and not settling for about 4 hours but it's all good.

Too I still cannot believe that she's here and ok, I was utterly convinced that something would happen again and that everyone else would have their babies and be fine but I wouldn't. I guess it's normal to feel that way. I'm really looking forward to seeing you and the others having their babies soon as I'm sure you all will.

razz could you have gestational diabetes? That is one reason for measuring large and also having extra fluid. The glucose in a morning sample would concern me. I had GD which is why I was induced early as it became unstable but turned out alright this time thank god.

blizy (hugs) xxx

blue (hugs) also xxx

fan fingers crossed for this month for you xx

Right, I'm going to try and get some photos onto the laptop to upload on here, hopefully won't take me long!

fanjodisfunction · 20/02/2012 15:08

razz when I was 28 weeks I was measuring 34 weeks so they sent me for a growth scan and everything was fine I just think now that that was when Fi turned and she was just pushing out more. But its nothing toworry about its if the next measurment or scan shows something then they might do something. The measurement thing isn't very accurate really.

Will catch up when I get in.

Hugs to blizy and blue take it gently today.

AngelGeorgie · 20/02/2012 16:34

Razz all through Pheb's pg I was measuring at least 3-4 weeks ahead. All was fine my GTT was nad and I occasionally had glucose in my urine and you remember how big Phebs was!!! (10 lb,0;5 oz!!) +++ big placenta + lots of fluid!!!
Cheese glad you re home & all is well xx
Love to all xxx
Horrible countdown to returning to work only 7 weeks left!!! However, not going to focus on it as still 7 weeks left with my darling girl & a load of plans before then.

Whatevertheweather · 20/02/2012 17:11

Cheese lovely update. So good to hear Ella is doing so well at home.

Razz bump measurements are notoriously inaccurate. With K my bump was only measuring about 35 weeks at 39 weeks so they sent me for a growth scan as they were concerned she was going to be small. She was born a week later at 8lbs 10ozs! Do you have another scan booked?

How you doing Fan?

Angel has Ant started his new job yet?

Bleurgh still being very very sick, thought it was abating but it's back with a vengeance today. Still I'm taking it to mean bean must be okay in there and there's still lots of hormones being produced. 12 weeks on Wednesday!

razzdazz · 20/02/2012 17:36

Thanks everyone for the reassurance.......stupidly googled and worried myself sick!! I have a scan booked for 11am tomorrow.
Really glad Ella is home and doing well cheese. I also have a consultant appt on thursday and my mw has sent him a essage to ask if she should repeat the GTT or do a fasting glucose??
I am trying to make myself be brave but am feeling really scared and on the verge of a freak out Sad

Whatevertheweather · 20/02/2012 17:41

Razz I know it must be hard not to freak out but focus on the positive your mw sounds on top of it, it has been noticed and they are following it up, you have a scan tomorrow where you will see your baby healthy and happy and get an estimate on size, you are nearly 32 weeks already. You are doing so so well. Big hugs, the end really must be the hardest xxx

fanjodisfunction · 20/02/2012 19:23

So good to hear about Ella cheese, so glad she is home and doing so well. Cant wait to see some piccies.

wtw yuck on the sickness, its horrid isnt it. my DH used to say it was all in my head, god I wanted to kick him when he used to say it. Thats the best way to take it too, that you are adjusting to being pregnant and the sicker you the more pregnant you are, must be nice though really that you are having strong symptoms, before you can feel baby. Must make you feel really pg.

Im doing ok, pretty happy really, I do have a little nag in the back on my brain about going back on the tools. That means when I do fall pg then I have to tell work again, I cant not tell them and I was hoping to keep it a secret for a while. So my mind has started to think what if I am pg and then have a miscarriage early one or a miscarriage at all, then I will have to go through it all again telling them I am pg and then having to tell them Im not. So unfair. And so annoyed that Im thinking baout this and Im not even pg.
