Angels and Rainbows - The beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. But it can provide colour and hope.

“Rainbow Babies” is the understanding that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. When a rainbow appears, it doesn’t mean the storm never happened or that the family is not still dealing with its aftermath. What it means is that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkness and clouds. Storm clouds may still hover but the rainbow provides a counter balance of color, energy and hope.

Oh Cheese, missed this last night - good luck! It'll all be fine, my lovely. Hope it's all over now and you're holding your adorable baby girl right now.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 03/02/2012 10:12

I can't believe I missed Cheese's update! Bean and I were having adventures of our own, though. MW came out yesterday and I discovered some brown spotting while she was here, at about 6pm. There were leucocytes in my urine and I was panicking a lot bit because of the spotting, so she sent me in to the hospital for a trace, mainly for reassurance. When we got to the hospital they put me on the trace, which was lovely - I calmed right down and just sat there listening to Bean's heartbeat for over an hour. However, it turned out I was having regular tightenings which I hadn't noticed (I thought it was Bean squirming Blush), every 3-4 minutes, so they started wondering if I might be going into labour. I was saying 'but it doesn't feel at all like labour! I've been having these feelings most evenings for weeks and just thought it was the baby moving!'. After about an hour they got less regular and started to tail off, and the doctor did a speculum exam and said my cervix was closed. They couldn't find any reason for the spotting but thought I might have a UTI, so sent me off with antibiotics and instructions to go back if there was any more spotting, harder/painful tightenings or anything like signs of labour. Bean seems quite happy this morning and it was so nice to listen to her yesterday! I want one of those trace machines in my bedroom. Have taken the day off and am lying in bed with the laptop hoping for an update from Cheese.

Wtw, so pleased at your boss's reaction - just what you wanted! My work just kept my maternity cover on - maybe yours will do the same.

Bluetinkerbell · 03/02/2012 10:17

Too thinking of you lovely!

I am getting very excited at the prospect of lots of lovely rainbow babies on here soon! :)

I am away for the weekend to Eastbourne to a conference!
Leaving DH and DD on their own, wondering what I will get back to on Sunday Wink
they are stocked up on ready meals Grin

fanjodisfunction · 03/02/2012 10:19

too glad all is well and bean is happy.

I've been doing the same ladies every half hour I'm on here to see if little gerkin is with us. DH asked me earlier why I looked so nervous. He sends his best wishes to you cheese I hope your LO is in your arms right now.

spilttheteaagain · 03/02/2012 10:26

checking in to check on cheese, I kept waking thinking of her in the night. Fingers crossed the LO is here now xx

AngelGeorgie · 03/02/2012 10:52

Cheese hope u re ok? Xxx
Too scarey... Glad you re ok now. Was reading your post getting really excited thinking you'd had your bean!!!
Oh , I m giddy!!!!
Come on babies!!! Enough waiting now!!! For me anyhow!!! Never mind your mummies!!!!
On another note : are all parents bred the same??? Furthermore : will I be same??? Xxx

CheeseandGherkins · 03/02/2012 11:39

Still no baby and only had one lot of gel. They've had to postpone my induction as there are now no spaces in special care! Had 9 babies born last night one of which was 30 weeks. All local hospitals are full too! Waiting a few hours then trying to get home for a decent sleep as it could be days now. Cannot believe our luck. Baby is v happy in me still and looks the best place now!

spilttheteaagain · 03/02/2012 11:43

oh no! How horrible to get psyched up for it and then be turned away. So glad she's all ok in there. Hope you get some sleep xx

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 03/02/2012 11:44

Cheese, how disappointing! Still, I suppose if miniGherkin is happy in you then it's the best place for her. How are your sugar levels now? FX all goes well - will the gel maybe start you off anyway, or has it not worked?

CheeseandGherkins · 03/02/2012 12:17

It's certainly been a rollercoaster. My sugars seem a little higher which is good, might be lower due to me being ill not sure. The gel is less likely to now I think as its been about 14/15 hours. Getting tightenings but not painful as such. Hoping they go away as I don't want her put at risk by being transferred

blizy · 03/02/2012 13:44

Oh cheese, it certainly is a roller coaster! I hope your little stays put until there is room for her. Although fingers crossed she won't need to spend any time in special care. Thinking of you and Dh.

fanjodisfunction · 03/02/2012 13:50

cheese as long as your happy and LO is happy and the doc's are happy then I guess it all good. I really thought you had had her. Oh well she's better off being cooked a bit more.

AngelGeorgie · 03/02/2012 14:18

Cheese glad your bean is ok? Xx

razzdazz · 03/02/2012 16:38

My goodness, I cant believe I have missed what has been going on with poor cheese. Sending you all of my love. Not long to wait for her arrival now Im sure. Bet you had a right mixture of emotions thinking she was coming and then having it all stop.
Will catch up with the rest of the posts later as have a viewing on my house so need to shove things in cupboards and spray polish!!!

Whatevertheweather · 03/02/2012 16:45

Oh Cheese how frustrating for you. Glad she is happy and hope they can get things going for you soon xx

Too a day off definitely seems a good idea. What a scare that must have been for you. Glad you got a lovely long listen to bean though Smile When are you planning to stop work?

Have anyone heard from August how hers an went? Been thinking of you August if you're reading xx

Urgh I seem to have progressed to all day sickness. Haven't managed to keep anything down really for 2 days now. If I'm not being sick I'm feeling sick. I did wonder if it was a bug rather than ms but don't feel ill at all and am still feeling hungry in between being sick Confused Makes me realise how easy I had it with K and E - I can safely say I've been more sick this time than with them combined. Maybe it means it's a boy?! I'll remember I said that in 10 weeks or so when we find out!! Smile

wtw if it is a boy you will buck the treand of this thread, you'll be the only one whose angel is a different gender to their rainbow baby.

DH and I have had a lovely pre-anniversary day, walked into town, had lunch out and now we are going to snuggle on the sofa and watch a movie on the movie channel, just watching Paper Moon. Love that movie.
Tomorrow is a day of Rugby, love it, the calcutta cup (DH is Scottish and obs Im english so we shall be on opposite sides of the room, cheering on our team. Also we really hope its going to snow, just like our wedding in Finland. This cold weather is really bringing back the memories. Cant beleive its been three years, kind of sad that Fi isnt here, but hopefully all these good vibes will bring us our rainbow. I was also thinking to day that I would be due this month if I hadnt of miscarried in the summer. Sad

FX I am this month.

fanjodisfunction · 03/02/2012 18:26

Razz how did the viewing go?

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 03/02/2012 19:20

Fan, getting married in Finland sounds marvellous. It must have been so beautiful. FX you are too.

Wtw, I'm planning to stop work on 2 March at 36 weeks, but my boss called this afternoon and said perhaps I should consider stopping now. I said I wanted the time for after Bean was born, and he said perhaps I could get signed off instead. It's v tempting! I'm not sure how much paid sick leave I've got left, though - I've used up a lot already this year. Poor you feeling so ill - hope it passes quickly.

Razz, hope the viewers like the house!

Cheese, thinking of you - hope all is well and you're getting some sleep.

razzdazz · 03/02/2012 20:09

Hello everyone
too you poor thing, the scares these rainbow babies bring with them. So glad that bean is still ok and cooking inside of you safely.
fan, it sounds like you have had a really lovely day with dh. I must admit that the one good thing about not having a job at the moment is that I get to have dh all to myself while the dc are at school. I have become a converted rugby fan in the last two years since ds has been playing....love it!!
angel I agree, parents can be such a pain in the backside and quite often engage their mouth before their brains!! I mean really, as if Ant would not bother looking for a job!!
wtwso sorry for the sickness, I have well and truly been there. I am a lot sicker for a lot longer when carrying boys Wink

Had my 4d scan today which was lovely. The quality wasnt fab as baby is breech and my placenta is anterior so in the way......typical!! The lady was lovely and only charged me for a normal scan. Baby boy is estimated to be 3lb at the moment with a prediction of being around 6lb5 when born. He looks just like ds1 and Thomas which has made me really smile.
Viewing on house seemed to go well but you never can tell. have two more booked for tomorrow so hopefully agent will give me some feedback then.

Hope things are still ok cheese.

CheeseandGherkins · 04/02/2012 12:14

Baby Ella was born at 11.36 am weighing 6 pounds! She's in special care but doing well! Xx

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 04/02/2012 12:33

Oh Cheese, congratulations! That's marvellous! Also tearing up. 6lbs is a great weight at 34 weeks. Much love to you both. Thanks Grin Grin
