I'm TTC for the first time, but also have PCOS. I have been told to lose 5 stone before they try me on clomid, more than halfway there with having lost 3 1/2 stone so far. But what i want to know is if I was to experience a miracle and conceive naturally, apart from the obvious symptoms of no AF and sickness how did you know you were pregnant?

Hope you can help xx

i usually get very emotional and sore boob-y and the sickness comes later.

TBH a lot of what you will hear wont be relevant to you and you might get loads of symptoms or you may get none at all its all individualSmile

massive well done on losing so much weightSmile and good luck with TTC!! i would maybe start to practice with intent now so you might get your BFP before haveing to try clomidSmile

love the name tooGrin

Unhelpfully the symptoms of v early pregnancy are rather similar to the symptoms of approaching period. Do the only way to know for sure is to pee on a stick.

oreocrumbs · 11/01/2012 21:21

Despite the fact I was ttc I didn't think I was pregnant (as we only had sex once and had been told to stop ttc untill I had a loop diathermy treatment), but I was horribly sick every day from the day my period was due. Did a test 2 weeks later and bingo! I also went off tea and chocolate (my staple diet) from day 1 Grin

Shellybobbins · 11/01/2012 21:21

Thanks Marbles, its been a struggle but I'm getting there. Its so hard not to feel emotional, sick, sore without jumping to the pregnancy conclusion. I've spent so much on tests only to be gutted when its negative.
Its so hard to know what your body is doing, when you have no control over it. lol

Wow, amazing weight loss, not too much further to go so please don't lose heart. My first symptoms other than a positive test were sickness which started around the 5 weeks mark in both my pregnancies. Make sure you are have regular relations with your hubby Wink and get some cheap tests from the internet, I got mine off amazon about got 25 tests for under a fiver if I remember right.

Best of luck, and fingers crossed you won't need the clomid

X

i remember having a very sore lower back and going out for something to eat and smelling the food and just wanted to be sick! then feeling very strange.

BillyBollyBandy · 12/01/2012 12:35

Wow - 3 1/2 stone! Well done you!

First time didn't know at all, thought I was coming on due to stomach cramps and moodiness. It was over xmas and I had 2 work do's 2 nights in a row, pissed as a newt for both of them. Took a test 3 days later as STILL hadn't come on and whoops dd1 was on the way!Luckily she has suffered no ill effects.

DD2 I just knew, even though the test was negative. It took about 3 days oftesting before I got my positive.

Lots and lots of luck! Maybe the weight loss will kick start something? Keep us updated.

My mum told me I was.

CrystalQueen · 12/01/2012 12:39

When I went for an ultrasound scan before starting Clomid (I also have PCOS). I felt like a right fool!

To be fair I have really irregular periods so no AF was nothing new for me.

DaydreamDolly · 12/01/2012 12:50

3 and a half stone is amazing, well done!

Both pregnancies, I was actively trying, and knew i'd given it my best shot, however on the months I fell, I just 'knew' and I know that sounds flakey. I can't put my finger on it, it was an instinct, and I was right both times.

The only thing I noticed was different was I got a few stabbing pains in my ovary area about a week before AF was due, and I wonder now if that was implantation.

Good luck and keep us posted!

AmeliaEarhart · 12/01/2012 13:24

I was charting my temperature and when it started to rise instead of dropping when my period was due, I knew I should test. I can't exactly recommend charting, as I know many feel it's the path to TTC madness, but it helped me slightly in control of the whole process.

I was also very emotional and irrational. I had a fit of sobbing in the morning of the day before I teasted because, ermm, I didn't want to go to work Blush.

Good luck!

fanjodisfunction · 12/01/2012 14:22

Well the only way I knew was taking a test, but looking back I remember leading up to the day of testing I had very very tender nipples and my boobs ached. Also I was pretty spaced out and had to sit down several times while I was working (Im a gardener). Oh and also I had this headache that was different to a usual one, it was deep in the brain type and this was the only symtom that appeared the second time I fell pg.

Good luck OP.

Piffpaffpoff · 12/01/2012 14:25

I got a super sensitive sense of smell, and also a terrible metallic taste in my mouth, like I had been sucking on 2p's!

mumtoted · 12/01/2012 14:31

Waking up at 5am for a wee. Apparently its something to do with egg implanting irritating the bladder (or something like that!).

sheeplikessleep · 12/01/2012 14:34

My nipples went darker and went all bumpy.

YNK · 12/01/2012 14:36

Metal taste and nosebleed both times. About 4/5 weeks.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 12/01/2012 14:39

A revolting taste in my mouth, mild morning nausea and tender boobs. Even then, it took weeks for the penny to drop, because I was taking the pill. I had periods for the first 3 months, and was going through a bad patch with DP. Pregnancy was a large shock!

jimswifein1964 · 12/01/2012 14:41

I couldnt run more than 44 minutes.

Shellybobbins · 12/01/2012 20:48

Thanks guys. not giving up yet with the weight loss, just struggling to back into the full swing of it after Christmas and New Year, although did lose 1lb after xmas. :o

People keep telling me I will know when im pregnant but I don't see how. lol Im a moody person most days anyway, but lately it seems ten times worse. but trying not to let my brain run away with me, just to get disappointed. I just wish I had control over my body rather than it controlling me!
There are times when it feels like everyone is pregnant but me, there seems to be a baby boom where i live and with friends at the moment and its so hard not to compare myself to everyone else.

Sorry moan over! Blush xxx

implantation bleed about 6 days before AF was due

Anger and a sudden obsession with sugar cubes and blueberries.

MummyPigandDaddyPig · 13/01/2012 10:38

Crying at the Xfactor all three times... I have timed my pregnancies well! :) Leona Lewis live does it every time!

beangrower · 13/01/2012 11:15

My very first unidentified pg I was was v broody and wandered round with a cushion tucked under my jumper!

Sore boobs = a big sign and sleepiness but basically - as already mentioned - the signs are the same as PMT-type signs due to the progesterone levels.

Good luck and well done for losing weight. You're a determined TTCer and hope you get a BFP soon.
