I had a coil for 3yrs then had it removed and went on the mini pill. Have been on it for just over one month. we have decided to try for a another baby and was wondering when i might start to ovulate. I had a period last week whilst still on the mini pill but it was very short and light. will my periods be irregular or will they go back to normal? and will my fertility return straight away?

No one can really tell. It can be 3-6 months for your cycle to settle down into a regular pattern after coming off the pill. However, some people get pregnant straight away.

Your gp might be annoyed at you if you get pregnant without at least one proper period, as it messes up the pregnancy dating.

you really will just have to wait and see. When I came off the pill my cycles settled down within 3 months, but I'm still not pregnant after a year of trying.

There is a school of thought that you are perhaps more fertile straight after coming off the pill!

Hi Chelle I was on Depo Provera for two years after DD, came off it in Feb and went on the mini pill for six months. My cycle was always ultra regular before but I didn't get a regular cycle back until October - so it was about three months after coming off. however unlike with the combined pill I'm completely regular again almost to the same hour each month. I'm using ovulation tests to see when I'm fertile.
