Day 21 test, 7 dpo or 7 days before af?

I need to have it repeated as it was low last month. I know usually 7 dpo should be about the same as 7 days before af. But 7 days before af is next tue but according to ff 7 dpo is friday. Which is best to go for? Thanks

I believe it should be 7 days before AF? Somebody else might correct me though!

I did mine 7DPO but no idea whether that was the right time, my luteal phase is about 13 days, so would have been 6 days before AF.

I would go for half way between, so if you normally have a 12 day lp go for 6 dpo/6 days before af. Technically you are trying to catch your progesterone at its peak which normally is 7 dpo, but in reality if you had say a 10 day lp then 7dpo your progesterone would already be falling fast.

My GP said 7dpo. If you don't know when you ovulate, 7 days before AF is the best guess but assumes a 14 day luteal phase.

This day 21 test is only part of the story; what you should also have done is a day 2 test to check and compare your LH level against that of your FSH level. If these two levels are awry then progesterone will be affected as well.

If your cycles are irregular as well the blood test can be done according to calendar days.

GP should to my mind refer you now rather than just mess around in ignorance.

Attila I have had the day 2 test done all normal there. Progerstone was 24 last month. Also come back dh has low count but they are wanting to repeat that also. Dh has been poorly this month so hoping that might of affected his count.

What did the day 2 test show in terms of LH and FSH?. (These should usually be the same; a discrepency of these levels should always be further investigated).

At least the semen analysis will be repeated; one poor count does not necessarily mean that there are male factor problems.

Thanks attila not sure about the levels they just said normal when I rang. But once everything repeated we are to make appt with gp to discuss results so will probably find out then.
