I am in a similar position.
I am a teacher and some of the children I work with are one of four or five who have been removed from abusive homes. And then the mother gets pregnant again. Why can they do it without even trying?

Not to mention two of my friends, one of whom got pregnant immediately after coming of contraception and was trying to avoid it for a month or so and another friend who got pregnant in the second month of trying.

I am so annoyed with myself for waiting for so long. All through my youth we were told that if you so much as look at a boy then you will get pregnant. Not so it seems.

However we have only been trying for 7 cycles (longer than 7 months for me) so I guess I don't have nearly as much reason to be upset as you.

I know it can be so very frustrating and I cant say I have had this experience but I have been through a very traumatic experience recently and everywhere I look people are either pregnant or new baby or young children and this makes my experience even worse.
I wish I could offer you some magic potion which could help you but it sounds like you have been dealt a very crappy hand and I really hope you get pregnant soon, just keep supporting each other and like you say you arent old and you have each other. Iwish you all the love and support and will be thinking of you, take care x

Skyper Fully understand how you feel as have been there myself, with friends and neighbours having kids with no probs at all, while we struggled with my blocked tube and increasing age. For supps, look at original post on this: www.fertilityfriends.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=226042.0 Also, Marilyn Glenville's 'how to get pregnant faster' is v helpful. You seem to be in the NHS system ok - have you had a Lap and Dye and have his swimmers been checked? Also, I found signing up for a 2 year evening course to be a great distraction.

Good luck!! xx

skyper · 17/01/2012 17:47

havent had a lap and dye... just diagnosed with pcos, so should i have a lap and dye..to be honest it hasnt even been mentioned to me so i figured i didnt need one?????..... and his swimmers are grand.....oh to be a man, eh?!?!;)

Apart from making sure you're ovulating, and that your hormones seem ok, you need to make sure you can physically conceive, so you'd need something like a hysto or hydrosalpingogram to check that your tubes etc are ok. A lap and dye is along the same lines as hysto/hydrosalpingothingy, but under general anaes in case you need treatment ie in cases of suspected endometriosis, and gives a good gynae a chance to really check out, with a mini-cam, your uterus and make sure it's implantation friendly. Could be worth paying for privately and look at as fertility MOT. I recently came across a case of someone who'd had 6 round of IVF but actually couldn't carry a child... I don't know too much about PCOS - did some reading on it, as idiot gynae misdiagnosed me as having it. There are good and very specific threads on Fertility Friends, and think you'd probably find a specific PCOS thread there if there isn't a MN group. FF threads don't run out like MN ones do so easier to keep up with IYKWIM.

Re these lucky men of ours who have it so easy.... NHS sperm tests showed DH all ok. Private sperm tests showed he was borderline. Big shock for him, esp as we needed ICSI with first round of IVF. Second round, when we'd been following the FF Angelbump protocol, ICSI not required. So if you can get him to cut out the caffeine, booze, and take all those supps, it might help a lot.

Wishing you all the best. xx
