I know I shouldn't have but I was bored and wanted to pee on something...

I was expecting AF on Tuesday, the last two months she has turned up 13 days after a positive OPK, today is day 16 after positive OPK and nothing. Just went for a shower and I don't know what possessed me but I decided to do an OPK (blame it on lack of HPTs to pee on) and it came back a stonking positive. This might mean nothing but now I need to go and get a real stick to pee on, it's cold and dark and rainy but I think I'll just have to wrap up and go.

Kicking myself cause I chucked to pee away so will have to wait a couple of hours to make enough to test again! And it might not be strong enough....Why do I do this to myself?????

Ooh just read your other thread and am now marking place for pee stick confirmation!

WaitingforStork · 05/01/2012 20:18

Am back with pee sticks, thank goodness for supermarkets. Just have to wait it out until I can muster enough pee. Better find something interesting on the telly. Home alone so at least I'm not driving DH up the wall too!

Thank you so much everyone!

DH is entertaining work colleagues tonight, will be picking him up later, not sure a text or a phone call would be welcome while he's out. I really want to see his face.

I really can't believe it, I'm soooo happy.

Congratulations :) :) :) I hope you had a lovely lovely moment breaking the good news to your husband. What a lovely way to start the new year. Wishing you a very healthy and happy pregnancy.

bugs the hormones in a preg test and an ov test are very similar.

If you are pregnant you will make an opk turn positive if you are far enough along - it doesn't work for early testing, I tried it and only got a faint line which is not positive on an opk. Once I got to the period overdue point I got a massively dark line on an opk.

It doesn't work the other way around. You cant use a preg stick to test for ovulation and you will only test positive on a pregnancy test if you have pregnancy hormone as the tests are more specific than the ovulation ones.

That's wonderful, stork! How did DH react? :)

buggerlugs you didn't misread - sometimes you get a +OPK when you're pg - here's a linkie: www.peeonastick.com/opkhpt.html

WaitingforStork · 06/01/2012 10:59

Morning all, thank you again for all your wishes.

Thanks kit for explaining the opk science bit, put it loads better then i would have!

I picked up dh last night about 11 but had to give his colleagues a lift back to their hotel so waited until we were in bed to break the news. I took his hand and put it on my tummy and told him we were having a baby, he was delighted and we couldn't stop smiling. Think he's quite nervous, had to show him the test and he asked how i knew it was positive, he's never seen one before. Not like it was a faint line, it was bright pink!

Going to phone the doctor on Monday. I only registered there yesterday so that me and dh were at the same surgery cause we were going to ask for tests this month as we've been trying for a year . Typical!
