When do those of you ttc no 2 find time to have sex?

When trying for dd, which took two and a half years, we had sex at least every other day between day 10 and day 20 of my cycle.

We want to start trying again and honestly in year since dd born I think we've done it about ten times. So how on earth are we going to manage to get another.

Sex for fun I'm not worried about - we can in theory do that in nap time or if she's with my parents or whatever. But the whole frequent sex to conceive I just don't see happening. We're so tired by bedtime and it's all we can do to cook dinner between dd going to bed and us going to bed let alone anything else.

I'm only ttc no.1, but I think in this instance something like basal temping/OPKs/CBFM might come in handy, so you can target specific days in your cycle without exhausting yourselves?

We just had sex at night and do about 3/4 times a week anyway regardless of ttc. I got pregnant when DD was 2.3 but had miscarriage at 6 weeks then got pregnant when she was 3.4. How young is your dd?

OptiMumPrime · 03/01/2012 16:42

DH wakes me in the morning, before he leaves for work, if we haven't managed it the day before.

It only takes one time to get PG ;) as popcorn said it may be worth charting (check out fertility friend) or buying a clearblue or persona monitor so you can narrow down your fertile window to 4 or 5 days and just make an effort to do it more often during that time.

Dd just turned 1.

Mornings!! Dd comes into out bed about 6 so that's out.

it may seem a bit extreme...but were using one of DSs practice days at the childminder to get back the the good old days and try and make number 2!

Set the alarm for 5 then.

I tell DH that if he wants to DTD then we have to be in bed before 10pm, last night DD woke up at 10.15 and needed settling, then DH gets up at 6.15am for work.

Heaven knows how long it'll take us to conceive DC2!

Yellow Flowers, I am in the same position ttc no2. I hope you don't mind me crashing your thread. I just got my period today and I am feeling really down. DD is 18 months and just amazing, although hard work, but far and away the best thing I've ever done in my life. With DD I came off the pill, had one period and the next month I was pregnant...we couldn't believe how quick it was, as I'd been on the pill for 15 yrs. But now sex is like a distant memory. We manage sex about once a month, when I guess I might be fertile. I am getting really down. DH really isn't interested. I've tried talking to him about it, but he thinks I'm being irrational or over emotional. I've tired joking about it and telling him that the stalks did not deliver our DD. All getting a bit depressing, he wants to have another baby, but just doesn't seem to want to have to do what is needed to get one. Even more depressing is that we only got married in August. Ah well, not much to be said about it really...sorry again to crash your thread!
