Well I guess we all have numerous friends who fell pg the first month, and no doubt there are loads on here that fall pregnnant at the first try, but obviously also there are those who don't as the doctors say to wait a year before seaking medical help. so I was just wondering, how long did it take you to fall pregnant if you already have kids? and if not how long have you been ttc?

It took me 13 months to fall pg with my DS who is now 3, and we have been TTC for no 2 since May last year. In fact I'm seriously considering giving up now as don't think I can keep going through this every month. Anyone else ever consider giving up?

Oops so guess it's a two-fold question really

I have PCOS and thought I couldnt have children but I was VERY lucky with both boys in that I conceived first time with each of them.

I was very planned and worked out ov dates, took folic acid and had DH on zinc.....then on the night I grabbed him!!..................!!

I think it depends a great deal on your age. I read somewhere that it takes a woman in her 20s and average of 5 months to conceive, a woman in her 30s double that etc.

Sorry I don't have much advice, I was one of the lucky ones.

hi
for me it took 1 mth to concieve ds, then it took 7mths to concieve again but had a missed mc. after the missed mc it took another 3mths to concieve dd. however when concieving her the last month I used digital opks and as soon as I got my smiley we were very busy for 3 days. I have a few friends who also took a while to concieve and then within first 3mths of using digi opks they concieved.

I started TTC for #1 at 26yo. It took 15 months - which ended in an early mc - then another 14/15 months, resulting in DD. we then, aged 30 decided to TTC for #2 - tried for 18 months before decided to call it quits - at least for the time being.

I've had four mc. Then ds (who was unplanned).

We started ttc mid July but were told that it would take a long time due to me coming off depo injection the same time - I had my last injection April so we technically decided we'd ttc when it 'ran out' in mind july. I fell pregnant end of november - so 4 months? I'm 22

I wanted to add though, that everyone says "it will happen quicker 2nd time around" which you do think it will, but don't think it works that way, well didn't for me.

I started ttc when aged 27 (DH 35) - took 3.5yrs to conceive, then had missed m/c, then took another 7 months to conceive again. Baby due in 3 weeks, 5 years after we began ttc!

took us 3 months ttc ( i was 32, dh was 35) had an early mis then caught next month resulting in dd1. Then started ttc for no.2 when dd1 was 15m old. Took 2 years. There was no reason for the length of time, we had lots of investigations and were due to start iui/ivf when we fell pg excatly 1 years ago. dd2 born in oct.
we felt like giving up lots of times - the last 6m before i got pg were awful and dh definitely wanted to call it a day. It's terribly hard sometimes but I wouldn't say it's been an awfully long time for you just yet.

...but there again, it's all relative - if you find it too stressful and it's having a detrimental effect on you, your dh/dp and/ or your relationship then maybe you need to think about what it would be like with just one child? It's something we thought about a lot and it's certainly not the end of the world but you need to decide if you can get over the yearning you currently have.

DS1 took 1 month off pill (age 23), DS2 took 5 months (age 24)but average is supposedly 6 months and anything up to a year is considered a 'normal' time frame so I know it is difficult but I would give it another few months yet. Are you using any OPK's or anything?

took 2 months with first pg, aged 27. That pg ended early on in mc. It took 3 months after the mc to conceive ds.

Took us 2 months for ds who is now 16mths. I was 25 at time of conception and dh 26.

(and i'm naively assuming it will only take me the same time next time round.... even though i know so well that it doesn't work that way )

Neither were planned. And dp and I were usually using condoms, so on both occasions, the one time it could have happened, it did

Was 22 with ds, 25 with this one.
