Falling pregnant on implanon

Ive been in the implant for a about 3 months now. I haven't had a period and as other people, I have been feeling pregnant. I am extremely broody and really want a baby but I'm at university so it wouldn't be ideal. My aunty have recently had a baby and I refuse to go and see him because I want one so much i would probably cry! That leads onto the next reason I think I'm pregnant, I get really bad mood swings, from being so angry at my OH to crying, to being really nice. Ever since I have been thinking I an pregnant I have gone complately off sex, become so hungry but feeling sick at the sight of food but not actually being sick. I also have really bad back and knee pains when I've been stood anymore than 5 mins. My boobs are so sore too and I have gained a good 5lb! I also feel a 'kicking' when in bed or being still it I've heard this is common. I also have the urge to constantly rub my belly like people do when they are pregnant.(sad I know!) I havent been pregnant before so I don't know how I should feel or if it's wishful thinking, but I just want to know if anyone has been pregnant on the implant before. If I was it wouldnt be the end of the world but I want to know if it's possible! :) thanks!

Sorry to state the obvious, but why don't you test?

I often have the urge to rub my belly. It's usually when I've eaten too many raisins.

MotherPanda · 03/01/2012 12:30

I had a baby 5 months ago and I still feel kicking! It's wind my dear.

Have a good fart and it will go away.

Also, the Implant can make you gain wait and have sore boobs etc - As I understand it tries to trick your body into thinking it's already pregnant so you can't then conceive.

MotherPanda · 03/01/2012 12:33

And yes it is possible - no contraceptive is 100% effective, I believe the implant is more than 99% effective however,

LaLauraDePalmer · 03/01/2012 12:37

I know 2 laydees who've gotten a BFP while on the implant. Pee on a stick.

Catch!

AriesWithBellsOn · 03/01/2012 12:38

Sorry OP. I imagine it's unlikely you are pregnant but possible. Just do a test to find out.

AriesWithBellsOn · 03/01/2012 12:40

PS you really should go and see your aunty's baby.

AriesWithBellsOn · 03/01/2012 12:41

...but that's just my opinion.

Hannahlouise1 · 03/01/2012 14:32

I thought it was wishful thinking. Thanks guys :)

Well this 'wind' and 'common weight gain' turns out to be a little bundle of joy! About 12 weeks gone! Can't believe it's so far along, althoight I didn't expect it being on the implant.
I went to the doctors and described all this to him, he felt my tummy and they had a mini scan machine and did it there and then alon with taking out the implant. Got a proper dating scan on Friday.
Can't wait to be a Mummy!!!

P.s. maybe rubbing your belly is a baby too and not just due to too many raisins MotherPanda :p

I seriously doubt it or I would be 20 months pregnant.

Congratulations! Maybe I should get an implant? It appears to get you pregnant.

farfallarocks · 04/01/2012 13:01

is this for real?

namechangerbat · 04/01/2012 13:04

wind / kicking at 12 weeks?

mummynoseynora · 04/01/2012 13:04

congratulations

of course the timing / gestation instills the general evidence that most cases of 'getting pregnant on the implant' are people who were actually pregnant already.

I have had an implant for 10 months and no baby here Wink

Hannahlouise1 · 04/01/2012 13:26

Well 12 weeks is just a guess. Proper dating scan on Friday. It's more like butterflies. But yes, the implant does seem quite in effective the more I read haha. Thanks everyone for the congratulations :)

Oh jesus - Don't tell me i'm pregnant. NOT what I want to hear! Sorry for doubting you - and Congratulations!

MotherPanda · 04/01/2012 13:30

12 weeks is very early to feel kicking, must be reassuring for you.

So perhaps you got pregnant just before putting in the implant?

lola4lee · 04/01/2012 13:38

I had implant for 3 years (out now ttc) and gained weight etc but did not get pregnant, so probably agree with theory of pregnant before implant.
I always rub my belly lol.

MotherPanda · 04/01/2012 13:54

Could you be further along than you expect? kicking usually occurs around 16-20 weeks?

LaLauraDePalmer · 04/01/2012 14:46

Not surprised at all - now you're the 3rd person I've heard of that got knocked up with the implant. Glad it's good news! Smile

Was the implant effective immediately from insertion or were you supposed to make alternate contraceptive measures for a few weeks?

AriesWithBellsOn · 04/01/2012 18:37

Hello Alpy.

LaLauraDePalmer · 04/01/2012 19:50

Impromptu implant soirée

Theas18 · 04/01/2012 20:08

The majority of implant pregnancies are ones that were implanting ie hadn't turned a pregnancy tet positive at the time of insertion of implant. We're you 100% sure that you had no sex or extremely secure contraception at the time of insertion? If so you are v unlikely o be pregnant. You've ot to test though.

Theas18 · 04/01/2012 20:10

Sorry didn't read the update! Be interesting o see what the doing scan shows but with symptoms you are likely more than 12 weeks and so already preg when it was put in. Hoodlum!
