Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

So, second doctor's appointment. What should I expect?

So DH and I have finally made another appoitment to see our GP.

Brief background: TTC#1, I had the implant removed in April 2009, saw GP in November 2010 and I had Day 21 test (all fine), DH had sperm count test (all fine too apparently). We were told to keep SWI regularly etc etc which we have, and using ovulation sticks, but nothing.

So can someone just tell me what to expect when I go back to the doctor? Will they do more tests, and what kind? Are there things I should be asking them to do so they don't fob us off?!

Sorry to sound like a twat a bit naive, I'm just not sure what's supposed to happen now!

Any advice gratefully received! Smile

In your shoes I would expect (or push for if it is not offered) a referral to a fertility clinic for additional tests (typically an internal ultrasound, more blood tests, a HSG to check your tubes and a repeat SA for your husband). My GP offered up a referral straight away after day 3 and 21 tests and one SA for my husband but I understand other people have had a bit of a battle.

Thanks eurochick, I'll go in armed with a referral request then! I didn't want to come across as too pushy iyswim, but I guess 2.5 years is a long enough to start asking for more?

Again, excuse my stupidness, but what's the Day 3 test? I've seen it mentioned a lot but I was only offered the Day 21 test.

Day 3 tests fsh and lh I would get these and ultra sound of pelvis done by go and referral good luck

My day 3 test tested the hormones mentioned by lugs and my GP also threw in other hormone tests (oestrogen, testosterone, etc) and a general blood screening for things like thyroid levels, liver function, blood sugar, etc.

Thanks both, much appreciated
