So DH has an appointment for SA on Saturday, what should we expect?

We are going to take the sample with us as the hospital is only ten minutes away.
Any advice?
What should we expect?
Any idea when we will get the results?
Any advice on how I can stop myself going insane until we get them?

Hello, my DH has done a couple now. He basically was given a cup and an appointment. He took it in ASAP and handed it over. We were told to expect the results within two weeks but it was more like one.
In terms of the insanity, it's difficult to say. We just put it to the back of our minds and tried to live like normal!

My husband just handed the pot in to a window at the appointment time and that was it. It took about two weeks to get the results.

We just tried to forget about it until it was time to get the results.

Unfortunately we didn't live close enough to the hospital to do a 'home delivery' so poor DP had to do it there which by all accounts 'was awful'. But anyway, our results came back in about 10-14 days but we were on hols so it was quite easy to forget about them. You should expect to get a total breakdown of about 5 figures I think? ie/ total count, morphology and others which I can't remember!

In my experience you simply drop the sample off so there's no need for both of you to go - it's a bit of a non-event. At the hospital I attend you (the bloke) do need an appointment but this entails the nurse just checking details which I've assumed is for purposes of confirming the origin of the sample and labelling correctly on the paperwork. I think it took about 7 days for our last one to be analysed. However, you may need a further appointment to find the results as there are several measures to understand and interpret so this may determine how long you have to wait.

Thanks for your help guys.
We shall see how it goings, seems rather straightforward really.

I think the only reason it is an "appointment" rather than just dropping it in whenever is because they have to test it asap so it would be unhelpful for lots of samples to turn up at once. But it is a bit of a non-event, as lozster said. I never went with my husband - he just dropped it in on the way to the office, at his appointment time.

That's what our GP said euro, ideally they should be analysed within an hour.

A little tip although you may already be aware..we got told to keep sample warm until you had it over so ideally keep pot in a pocket or wrapped in a sock. its very embarassing for the poor men but like i kept telling my other half its the only test he has to do..i've had countless. Good luck x

The only reason for me going to to drive! (he doesn't)

The doctor said to keep it in a inside pocket.
