Can anyone please remind me what the basics are?

Just about to start trying for dc2, dd is nearly one. When we tried last time I read and researched, found out the most I could about when ovulation happens, how often to do the deed, etc etc - I appear to have forgotten it all though! I have a vague idea that I should be fertile half way through my cycle - what are the signs I should look for that I'm ovulating? Any other tips and wisdom?

And am I right in thinking there's a theory about having sex later in the ovulation period being more likely to result in having a boy?

Increase in temperature and ewcm are signs. Have a look at the ovulation calculator in the bottom right corner which will tell you when your most fertile period is likely to be each month based on the date of your period. I think they recommend trying every other day to allow time for more sperm to be produced.

No idea about improving the odds of having a boy though.

Every other day is great on theory but difficult to sustain long term! Aim for three times a week every week.
If you're serious about sex selection, research the Shettles method but I'm not sure how scientific it really is!

On a 28 day cycle you should be most fertile between days 10 -16 so trying 'doing the deed' every other day between then to get your best chance (I think).

No idea how / if you can help determine the sex of the baby at all - I guess its just 50/50 chance...

isnt it sometjing to do with the faster sperms being boys and the slow ones are girls.. the fast ones dont last as long as the girl ones though, so sex on ovulation day = boy baby and sex few days after = girl baby?

or something to that effect!!

you should try fertility friend, i have a 28 day cycle and presumed i would ov sometime between day 13-15, turns out its actually day 17 or 18. i would never have known this if i wasn't charting. I also bought a persona monitor off ebay, again this showed ov to be day 18.

Buy basic ovulation tests from home bargains or body care. 5 for 3.99
Test morning and night from 26 days before your period is due until you get 2 lines as dark as each other, then shag like rabbits for 4 days. Wait 2 weeks to see if your period comes, if it does, repeat.....
Other fertile signs, you may suddenly feel more frisky, you may see some stuff Down there that looks like egg White, you may have stomach ache, have slightly sore boobs etc.
