I wonder if anyone here has used this with success? I see there are a couple on sale in my local chemist's and I wonder if it's worth the price?

depends what your definition of success is Grin
I have used persona on and off for 4 years and conceived 2 DC with its help and not been pregnant when I didn't want to be.
Have a fairly short cycle and it didn't matter that I did fall pregnant if it DID go wrong but I stuck to it faithfully and it worked.
Sticks can be pricey but bought cheaper online

Persona is marketed to stop you getting pregnant! It's like the reverse of the CBFM. If you are trying to conceive you might as well buy the CBFM.

In theory, you could use the Persona, and simply go for it whenever you got the red light. But I'd say you might as well buy a CBFM. However, if you get a persona, you can use it for contraception afterwards. whereas you can't really use a CBFM for contraception.

What is a CBFM?

Clear Blue Fertility Monitor. It's very similar to the Persona in that you piss on sticks when it tells you to. It identifies the days of high and peak fertility in your cycle. If you are going to buy one of these gadgets, they can be got much cheaper on the internet than in Boots. The sticks are also available much cheaper on the internet.

DH I uses Persona to make sure I don't get pg, it works very well. I've never TTC but I have charted and I reckon it pinpoints your fertile time with some accuracy. CBFM does pretty much the same thing, but the sticks cost more.

I got a used one off ebay last month for £5! and it incuded a box of test sticks, it has been fab, lots of red days as it is my first cycle but i could tell when i actually ov'd by looking at the lines on the test stick. It has 2 lines, one is oestrogen and the other is LH, i got a really dark LH line just before i ov'd and a little egg sign the day after.

I would definately recommend it, as it is soo much cheaper than the CBFM when bought preloved, they are actually made by the same company and the test sticks are exactly the same.

Just be aware if you're buying a used one u will need a test stick to reset it which cant be re-used, also the first month u need two boxes of test sticks with the same batch number then one a month after that.

I got one off eBay last month and I'm now 5 weeks pregnant! Smile

I chose it over the cbfm because they tend to be cheaper. It's a pain having to pee on a stick 16 times the first month at around the same time, and as it was my first month I got loads of red days (ie. fertile days) but it predicted when I ovulated. I'm not sure how much it helped in that I probably would have dtd on the same days but I liked knowing where I was in my cycle and I can use it as contraception in the future.

The cheapest sticks I found were on amazon.

Good luck Smile

Amandine congratulations!

It definitely helped me conceive my DS. I didn't know I ovulated on CD16 until I started using it (had usually stopped SWI by then) and then the first month I used it = DS :)
