Irregular periods after breast feeding and about to ttc

Hi, just wondering if anyone has experience of this and could offer some advice?
I had regular periods my whole post puberty life until after DS was born. I bf for 7 months and since stopping in feb my periods have been very irregular 18-35 days.
We're now hoping to ttc again early next year and I'm starting to worry a bit about having an irregular cycle. I used to know exactly when I was ovulating and now I've no idea even if I am. Starting to fret about early menopause (I'm 36).
I'll try ovulation test sticks but was hoping to hear from anyone else who had new irregular a periods after breast feeding and managed to get pregnant??

I'd recommend charting on fertility friend which is free and the book Taking Control of your fertility. It will help you get a clearer idea on what is going on, and if you are actually ovulating. Irregular cycles in themselves of this length are not indicative of a problem or early menopause from what I've been reading.

Hi there, my cycles were irregular after they came back when breastfeeding. We were TTC for 2 cycles but kept getting the dates wrong so I invested in a Clearblue Fertility Monitor which told me when I was ovulating and got pregnant first cycle! Would highly recommend it

Thanks chocchip. They do seem quite expensive so may give a couple of months trying first just with ovulation sticks. But it's a huge relief to know it's not just me and I still have a chance for dc2.
