Hi,

This is my first post and i am so confused, i would really love to have a baby and i am not getting any younger, i did the BD with my OH on the 8th Dec i know it is too early for a test but i am feeling nausea, dizzy, bloated, my tummy feels like there is something dancing about in it oh and i am forever burping!

I know that the only way to truly know is a test but as i haven't been pregnant before, is this it? I could just be clutching at straws?

Any help/advice is gratefully received.

Thanks

No one knows whether you are pregnant. The only person to know will be you when you do a pregnancy test. HTH.

Good luck.

namechangerbat · 17/12/2011 17:09

Bd Hmm

queenbabe · 17/12/2011 17:16

Thanks. Yea it does help, i am a real believer in trusting what my head says so i will keep going on as normal.

Does anyone recognise these symptoms?

You need to test. Either way, the 'dancing about' isn't a baby at this point.

queenbabe · 17/12/2011 17:26

Would a test work this early if so which one do I get. Sorry about all the questions.

What date is AF due?

queenbabe · 17/12/2011 17:34

AF due 1st jan.

minceorotherwise · 17/12/2011 17:49

Bit early to test then, try and wait another week or so and it's possible you could get a result.

minceorotherwise · 17/12/2011 17:50

I think first response is prob best test, but someone here will know which ones work earliest

queenbabe · 17/12/2011 17:56

Thank you for your help. It is gratefully received.

Given that AF is still over 2 weeks away, you could actually be experiencing ovulation symptoms at the moment? I know that's not the answer you want, but if you have a fairly regular / average cycle then you probably ovulate about 2 weeks before AF rocks up, which could be now.

Night bit be but might be worth a bit more SWI if you are ttc?

Also non-plussed by BD? What does that mean?

queenbabe · 17/12/2011 18:07

Yea I did think that's what it might be but I have never had symptoms like this before. Sorry bd I thought was baby dance. Ah well nevertheless mind.
Thanks

Ah - that would make sense for BD - I've seen it before but never knew what it meant Blush

I never had (or at least never noticed) ov symptoms until all of a sudden at the start of the year. If there is one thing I learned in the time we were ttc, it is that mother nature has at least a million different ways to make you think you're pregnant each month - something new and unusual to throw at you!

Good luck though - hope you get there soon, if not this time?

queenbabe · 17/12/2011 18:16

Thank you.

Well, possibly you are, or if you are TTC you might be over noticing symptoms IYSWIM. Or you could have eaten some overly rich food that doesn't agree with you? Or you could be coming down with one of the bugs doing the rounds (sorry about that). At the risk of asking for TMI, have you done a poo today? If so, all normal? Because sounds like a tummy bug to me...

So, to be on the safe side, lots of Christmassy sex. (Although granted, if you're burping and feeling sick, then you're probably not in the mood...)

fortyplus · 17/12/2011 18:20

It sounds to me as though you've got the same tummy bug that I had earlier this week. Sorry.

queenbabe · 17/12/2011 18:35

lynda no I haven't had one yet but these symptoms have been going on for two days now. All was normal yesterday! Haven't eaten anything out of the ordinary.

queenbabe · 17/12/2011 18:36

Sorry Lydia

Too early to tell op. Altho I'm a firm believer in you know your own body...

With my second pg I knew I was pg before I'd tested as a week before af was due I was more sensitive to taste (ESP salt) and my mouth was always dry (same symptoms I had first time around).

My nausea and dizziness didn't start till 3/4 weeks after af was due. Some say nausea usually kicks in when your placenta is settling in which will be after af is due, I think.

Do a test a week or so pre af is due.

Good luck!

queenbabe · 17/12/2011 20:01

Looks like I might be doing a Christmas day test!

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtinsel · 18/12/2011 07:27

Testing a week early, you'd do well to convince a pg test, even if you are pg. Unless you have really long cycles (and in particular a really long time after ovulation and before your period starts).

The time between ovulation and your period starting is called your 'luteal phase'. For most people this is between 12-16 days or so. So around about 2 weeks long. Generally speaking, when you're pregnant you don't get enough HCG to convince a test until say 10-12 days after ovulation, so really just a few days before your period is due.

I know there are tests that say they can detect a pg up to 6 days before AF is due, but they will still give you a lot of false negatives (ie a negative result when you are in fact pregnant). I think most of their stats say they can detect 50% of pregnancies 6 days early, so half the pregnant people that test would still get a negative result iyswim?

I guess my point is, that if you test too early and get a negative, it still won't tell you anything, because you might just be too early to tell. So you probably won't believe it anyway.

Anyway, good luck and hope you're not waiting too long for your bfp xx

eurochick · 18/12/2011 09:27

If AF is due 1st Jan, it is likely that you ovulated around this weekend, so sex on 8 December would have been more than a week before ovulation. Most studies say sperm lives for up to 5 days in the right conditions, so it would be a stretch for it to live long enough for your egg. Get back on it asap in case it is ov you are feeling!

queenbabe · 18/12/2011 11:49

Thanks for all of your help and sorry of me not knowing has frustrated you. Having read all of your replies I think that it is more likely to be ovulation rather than pregnancy. I understand more now and hopefully I will get a bfp sometime.
