Hi sazza

We're leaving for the hospital in half an hour. I am starting to feel sick, though they'll probably just stick me on clomid and hope for the best.

Flickstar · 26/04/2012 09:35

Good luck evil- everything crossed for you

CaveMum · 26/04/2012 10:09

Good luck evil

sazzababs · 26/04/2012 12:35

Thanks for the welcome, I'll pop over to the JS thread too :D

Best of luck Evil!

Things are not so great, I'm afraid. Appointment with clinic hugely stressful, as predicted. We have official diagnosis of "unexplained infertility" and have been recommended to go for IVF. We get it on the NHS once we've been trying three years (which will be January), or we can pay for it. No clomid or similar as my blood tests and cycle length are normal, and suggest that they'll do more harm than good if I'm given drugs. DH is all for IVF, I'm way more ambiguous (moral issues). I'm not sure what we're going to do now, but will continue to try and make me thin enough for IVF on the NHS so if we do decide to do that, we can. The other painful thing we have to do now is tell our parents, which I'm not looking forward to.

Hope everyone else is having a better day :)

zippys · 26/04/2012 16:54

Hi evilgiraffe your post made me want to offer a grwat big (unmumsnetty) hug. But also promted me to post. Have you been having all your tests on the NHS? If so have they tests things like your AMH and immunes.

The reason I ask is because of your allergic reaction. The tests the NHS did told us that we had male factor issues and would need ICSI, however when we went for private tests (no NHS funding at all in our PCT!) they did extra ones and these showed that I have low AMH and that its not all down to male factor as DH results had massively improved and that it actually more likely to me! So I would try to push for more tests, it may still mean you need IVF (we start our first cycle tonight!!).

Its totally crap when you get this far along and you just feel like everything is against you. Telling parents is hard, my inlaws were a nightmare re hints of having grandchildren so we only told them when we had our MC.

If you have any questions re allergy and TTC or IVF let me know as I may not post but do lurk.

Do you have much weight to get off for IVF? I have lost 4 1/2 stone partly for IVF so if you want to chat re that I may also be able to help. Thinking of you.

Hi to everyone else, and thanks for all the lovely messages from my last post

CaveMum · 26/04/2012 17:06

evil, sorry to hear that the appointment didn't go well. zippys has offered you some very good advice, but in the meantime I prescribe wine and chocolate (((hugs)))

evilgiraffe · 26/04/2012 19:34

Thanks, guys. Yes, all tests are on the NHS. I'm not too worried about AMH to be honest - I'm only 29 so it's unlikely to be an issue, and if it is then there's only six months or so before the referral in any case so I'm happy to wait until then.

I've got my allergy appointment next week so when I know more I'll report back - hopefully it will be something that's easy to avoid. I may well ask you for advice though, especially if it's something food-related. Losing weight hopefully won't be too bad, as my BMI is 30.8 so only about half a stone over. The longer days will probably see me cycling to work! 15 miles each way should help shift the pounds...

zippys · 26/04/2012 21:15

Not wanting to scare you and I hope it is fine but I have low amh and I am 30. They think it's linked to my anaphylaxis which is an immune issue and shows up like an allergic reaction. I suppose it's just worth bearing in mind. Sounds like you should be able to get the weight off easily with that cycle - I couldn't do it!!

HopingSoon · 26/04/2012 21:18

Hi ladies,
So this month I am on a herbal kick!! Starting taking agnus castus, evening primrose oil with starflower oil included, along with my multivitamin conception ones! Currently I am rattling lol!
Read the I can take agnus castus all month but to stop EPO at ovulation so must remember that.
Anyone heard any good things about these herbal tablets??

CaveMum · 26/04/2012 21:33

I heard that you should only take AC for the first half of your cycle. Are you self-medicating or taking them under instruction? It's easy to go totally overboard on supplements etc, but do be careful that you don't end up taking things that conflict with each other Smile

HopingSoon · 27/04/2012 08:12

Hi Cavemum
I'm self medicating, but only taking the RDA. I've done quite a bit of research and these herbs/vitamins have a lot of positive feedback in regards to fertility so thought I'd give them a try. Just thought what the hell, nothing else is working :(
Got drs Monday so hopefully will get referral for fertility clinic, but recon that'll take more than one month so trying something different for this cycle.
Yeah there seems to be conflicting info on AC as to stop taking it after ovulation. Others say just stop taking as soon as you suspect your pregnant.
TBH, I'm not getting my hopes up on them working, but all are recommended for PCOS suffering, do if they help with any of those systems, I'll be happy that they did something :(

mrsmellow · 27/04/2012 11:51

Hey all,
sorry to hear about your appointment evil - it is a bit shit. Good luck with the weight loss - cycling to and from work would definitely help with that!
cave fingers crossed for testing this weekend.
hoping how long have you been trying? We're going to see a gynae next week, so hoping to get the ball started on investigations - already know about polycystic ovaries, but want to rule out any other problems and then maybe start clomid in the next month or so if everything else is ok. I'm reluctant to start taking herbs until investigations are done.
I think I'd really hoped to get pregnant before this stage, wishful thinking clearly isn't as effective as it should be Grin

HopingSoon · 27/04/2012 12:02

Hi MrsMellow, been trying about 14 months now :(
Had 3 months of clomid and no good, and had quite bad side effects, which wasn't nice.
I'm just taking over the counter stuff, so hopefully they are ok. If dr tells me to stop I will but trying anything now. I know how you feel, really didn't think I'd be still here either, depressing isn't it!
Hope next weeks appt goes ok!

JosieSmith1 · 27/04/2012 16:47

Just lost my bloody post!

Evil I don't want to worry you either but I have low AMH and I'm only 26. Apparently my ovaries are working at the age of a 36 year old's Confused. I got mine tested on NHS though so you should be able to have yours done if you want it Smile

Hoping good luck with the supplement kick

MrsMellow I have tried wishful thinking and can also guarantee it doesn't work, sorry Sad

Cave best of luck if you're testing this weekend

CaveMum · 27/04/2012 22:24

Thanks all! Planning on testing on Sunday and trying very hard not to get my hopes up.

Pinkie29 · 27/04/2012 22:55

Hi ladies hope your all well Smile

PricklyPickle · 28/04/2012 07:57
