New thread..... let's get going!!

OP posts:
JosieSmith1 · 26/01/2012 14:39

Ratata my GP does a simple urine test if I think I've got another infection, sorted there and then. I know the symptoms as I get infections a lot (only got one functioning kidney)

Evilgiraffe I had an HSG at beginning of December, I was s**t scared but it really was nothing to worry about. It was a bit undignified (running around hospital corridors in gowns hoping no-one could see me!Grin) and having to be 'washed' down there was a bit embarrassing but honestly try not to worry. It was uncomfortable but they talked me through the whole thing and it was just bad period cramps but not really painful as such. I had no bleeding, not a lot of fluid leakage Blush and just very subtle cramping for 1 or 3 days afterwards.

raspberrytipple · 26/01/2012 21:06

How weird, the thread wasn't appearing on the list but still in my threads I'm on so found it. Oh well :) evening all. Nothing to report here, hope all are ok.

OP posts:
Flickstar · 27/01/2012 11:28

Hello evil! Hope all goes well with your HSG- I did find mine painful but then I am a wimp and I know it's not normal to find them painful so I wonder if I might have had a little bit of a blockage or something in one of my tubes. Even if everything is fine the HSG is meant to give all of the pipes a good flush out and spring clean so fingers crossed after that your eggs will be whizzing along towards those sperm. Good luck with it all and will lurk for your news.

Big waves to raspberry, cave and josie as none else knows me! We are keeping seats warm for you and can't wait to ahve you on the otherside. Lots of love xxxx

JosieSmith1 · 27/01/2012 13:27

Hi Flick how's things? All ok I hope? Yes please keep me a seat, I don't plan on being long (mind you, I've been saying that for almost 2 years!)

littlemisslemon · 27/01/2012 19:22

raspberry i couldnt find the thread yesterday either! Weird. And revision is slow but ok ta. Hmmmm 6 weeks and still no AF. Aaargh! Geeting bored now. Whats the longest its taken for people to have their first 'real' period when off the pill?.

Beeblebear · 27/01/2012 19:37

littlemiss - mine came day 27 off the pill. I was worried as had gone on the pill when I was younger because of painful cysts - now knowing more now then I did then I was terribly worried that it wouldn't come, But they seem to be fairly normal between 27-34 days. Hard to pinpoint ov though.

What pill were you on? I was on alesse and yaz off an on for the last 3 years.

raspberrytipple · 27/01/2012 21:58

Hi flick lovely to see you again :D like josie said hopefully be with you soon!

littlemiss my periods came back to normal pretty quick and are generally now between 29-35 days. Hope it comes back soon!

Getting more nervous about my appointment and what to expect. Am finishing work at lunch time so will head home for a shower the go for some lunch with DH although don't want to eat to much incase I need to purp while I'm being examined!!

OP posts:
littlemisslemon · 28/01/2012 09:15

Feeling a bit :( am 42 days and still nothing. I know it'll come back soon im sure but frustrating waiting. just want to know everythings 'working' again. Lol. i was regular before i went on the pill age 16 for pain Was on microgynon initially for 5 yrs, then dianette for 2 then yasmin.

NearlyDunne · 28/01/2012 15:33

AF HAS ARRIVED WOOOOOOOOO

maamalady · 28/01/2012 15:56

Littlemisslemon, sorry to give you frustrating news but it took me eight months to have a real period after coming off the pill! Having said that, I won't be surprised if there's something wrong with me, as we've now been trying for over two years and still nada. It's completely normal for it to take up to six months, though - the doctors won't do anything until it's been that long.

The HSG went fine, thank you to everyone for the encouraging comments! It was almost entirely pain-free, just a bit odd having lots of people and machinery around. I felt distinctly sick afterwards though, but took the rest of the day off work and then walked (slowly) all afternoon as if I stayed still or indoors for any length of time the nausea returned. Walking is good!

The radiologist confirmed that the HSG can clear the tubes a little and therefore potentially increase the likelihood of getting pregnant, so we are keeping our fingers crossed :)

raspberrytipple · 28/01/2012 16:01

Congratulations Nearly lol. That's good though, it means you can get going proper now!

Glad the HSG went well Evil fingers crossed its flushed you out and that next cycle is 'the one' :)

Well, AF due on Monday. Really tempted to test and I really, really shouldn't, as if it's actually likely to have happened just because I have my first appt. with the hospital next week! haha, not likely. Plus, I'm getting cramps and am proper stroppy :D

OP posts:
Picklestar · 28/01/2012 18:49

Heya all can I join?

Will be fab to talk to people about conceiving and get some tips! I'm going to have to study the acronym page, so please bare with me!

Last month was our first month trying to conceive our first child, got a negative pregnancy test, which I was shocked about, even though it was our first month, think I need a reality check! Did anyone else feel like this?

I see you've been taking about periods on here, I stopped contraception in August and so far my periods have been 4-6 weeks apart! so no idea when I'm ovulating. Ive bought ovulation predictor kits, has anyone used these before? Any good?

Good Luck to us all, I'm excited and surprised by how obsessed I am by it already! :o

Picklestar · 28/01/2012 18:51

PS, I probably being really thick but whats AF? I can't find it on the acronym list!

CaveMum · 28/01/2012 19:04

Hi Picklestar, welcome Grin

AF is "Aunt Flo", otherwise known as your period.

Some people like to use it, others find it a bit twee - it's up to you!

I think it is totally normal to feel disappointed when you see a negative test. My advice, if you can, is try to resist the temptation to POAS (piss on a stick) until you are actually late. I know it's easier said than done but honestly it will save some tears and a lot of money!

Try not to pressurise yourself: the advice from Drs is that a totally healthy couple with no fertility issues will take on average 6 months to conceive, so while you often hear people claiming to have fallen pregnant straight away, I'd say most of them are fibbing!

Picklestar · 28/01/2012 19:22

Thanx CaveMum for the welcome and the advice. I'm looking forward to being part of the message board! :)

littlemisslemon · 28/01/2012 20:30

I know im being silly and i knew before i stopped that up to six months to get regular periods was to be expected but i was hoping to have had something by now, even if it wasn't a proper bleed. It just makes you wonder if theres something amiss, even though that's unlikely as I've never had any probs before! This getting ready/TTC lark messes with your mind! Haaa.

Picklestar · 28/01/2012 22:16

Know what you mean littlemisslemon, completely messes with your mind! Its nearly been 6 months & I'm still not back to normal!

raspberrytipple · 29/01/2012 10:26

well, the bitch arrived somewhat dramatically this morning :( At least now it's out of the way for my appointment on Friday. Really hope that it doesn't get cancelled or moved further away again, I think I would have to ring the hospital and cry! Fingers crossed that doesn't happen though. Last lot of blood results are back on Tuesday too.

Hi Picklestar and welcome. Don't feel bad that you were shocked about the negative. I was devastated the first few months that I didn't get a BFP (big fat positive) but I've got used to you now. Hopefully you wont have to and you'll be up the duff before you know it.

Hi Cave You've been quiet lately? Everything ok? xx

Fingers crossed AF arrives soon littlemiss it's so frustrating not being able to get on with the job when you don't know what's going on.

to everyone else. Been a bit quieter in here of late. All busy shagging away are we Grin

OP posts:
NearlyDunne · 29/01/2012 10:45

Welcome picklester
It has been very quiet hasn't it. maybe everyone has taken a new year break and will be back this week :)
rasp the dramatic entrance didn't have anything to do with whit jeans or running through a white house in the nip Grin

Fairygodmother1 · 29/01/2012 11:33

Hi ya, sorry went AWOL - new job took over my life!!!

Sorry to hear about AF rasp, white jeans used to work for me as a teenager lol.

CaveMum · 29/01/2012 12:08

Morning all, sorry to here of your inconvenient arrival raspberry.

Things are pretty quiet for me, really not sure what is going on! Cycle 1 of Clomid I ov'd on Day 17, Cycle 2 on Day 14 and now I'm in Cycle 3 I'm in Day 21 and not convinced ice ovulated at all!! I may have had a temp rise this morning, but won't be able to tell if it's ov related for a few days. I have my blood tests to confirm ov tomorrow and an appointment with a GP on Tuesday to get my next batch of Clomid.

We've been very good about dtd this last week, DH has been home all week (usually works away) and we've managed it 7 times in 9 days - not bad going! I'll be very disappointed if it turns out I've not ov'd at all this cycle.

Picklestar · 29/01/2012 16:09

7 times in 9 days, very impressed CaveMum! fingers crossed you've ovulated!:)

Ive been told by the Dr because of medication Ive just gone on I'm not allowed to try to conceive for the next 2 weeks! DH said he doesn't want to waste the little swimmers so no shagging for 2 weeks :O, we'll see how long it lasts!

raspberrytipple · 29/01/2012 16:54

No white jeans nearly but I did have to change the bed sheets and clean a bit of carpet along the trail I took to the loo. Very unusual for me, I'm more of a spotter for a few hrs of day 1 but hey ho, they are getting more painful and erractic so I don't really know what to expect at the moment.

Hope the job's going well then fairy - sounds busy at least if it's keeping you away from us lol. How rude :)

cave I am impressed on the swi effort!!! Very impressed indeed! We are going to keep to every other day then every day from day 14 to 20 this month although I've been keeping a note in my diary of when I think I ov and although we are not having loads of sex, we do seem to be swi around the right time. All very confusing!

pickle that sounds intriguing about the tablets! Hope you are ok. Don't forget to make sure DH empties the sperms out first and grows a new batch when you are ready to take up the swi baton again, don't want to start of with sleepy old sperms trying to fight their way up there, you need young verile and full of energy ones!!

OP posts:
Beeblebear · 29/01/2012 17:01

Pickle. If you will be ttc following the two weeks, your dh shouldn't really " save up " for those two weeks or his little swimmers will be tired and old. I have been reading that 3 days is the max time to "save" as after that sperm motility drops dramatically.

Cave no wonder u have been quiet! Me too lots of swi over here. Cd 6, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16.

Rasp, sorry the b. Arrived!

Picklestar · 29/01/2012 17:39

HA HA! Thanx all, will tell DH that he told me a pack of lies and we should recommence the shagging at once! :)!

Rasp that does all sound very dramatic!
