New thread..... let's get going!!

OP posts:

Hey ladies, how are we all doing? I went for an ultra-sound & "trans-vaginal scan" today (not as bad as I thought it would be!) and everything is fine. They could even see how many egg follicles are growing in each ovary!! A big relief to know that everything looks good. DH's sperm is good too so we'll just have to keep at it. AF is due next Sunday and my boobs are massive & very sore. I did wonder though, if I am pg would the doc have been able to see anything on the scan today? Or would embryo be too small to detect? so just a week of waiting for me.

The doc also said the best way to check for ov is bbt done rectally(!) I told him i'd been using a CBFM & he seemed to think they aren't 100% reliable. Any ideas why?

Let's home this month is lucky and I won't need to worry!!

How is everyone's SWI/2ww etc etc going?

Sorry to hear about the BFN's Sad. Hope your wrests arrive Nearly!

JNO18 · 14/01/2012 18:17

Sorry for all the typos, stupid iPhone!!

raspberrytipple · 14/01/2012 18:58

Evening ladies. Had a manic week and a bit turbulent. Landlords did an inspection last sunday then served notice to quite! Cheeky gits but I complained and they came around with the agents today and weve sorted it so not being made homeless afterall. Was all very strange though and too long a story to type out.

Apart from that I'm good thanks Fairy, think I'm going to ovulate tomorrow. I'm bloated and getting a pain and had masses of EWCM this morning. I also have a bit of a sore throat :(

JNO18 what was the transvaginal scan like? I think I might be having one in February but I'm not sure quite yet what is going to happen. Bit nervous about it!

Fingers crossed for tomorrow Nearly!!! and sorry the bitch got you Fairy

How's is the revision going missmelon? I hate revising, my house is always nice and tidy when I have to do it :)

Welcome bottledred, as I always say, hope your stay is a nice short one!!! Good idea to track for a little while and then go to the docs if nothing after 6 months as you are 35.

beeble hope the return from the honeymoon has been bearable. It sounds like it was amazing.

Marshmellow ref the drink I have pretty much given up now as we have been trying a fair while and want to try this as a next step but I don't think you really need to. Maybe just cut back a bit and make sure you stick within Govt guidelines really (which when I looked up is a scarily small amount!)

Glad you are feeling better Josie I'd like to adopt and I've spoken to DH about it but he really isn't keen. He wants to exhaust all options to have our own baby first so I think we may have to speak about it if we ever reach that point but it's definitely a good thing to do. We had a look on the adoption forums on here but it is sadly all rather negative and upsetting but I know a few people who were adopted and those who have adopted and have absolutely loved it.

Waves to Cave CEDR and ratata and welcome also to pearl and chair Same message as to Bottledred!

Right I'm off to a 30th birthday party and tomorrow I am having some professional photos taken by a pole photographer who also does glamour. I have three outfits, two are underwear based and one is sports wear then I am also taking a very tight sparkly dress. Having hair and makeup done at 9.30 a.m. so early start for a Sunday. The photographer also does glamour shots and DH thinks I should do some just for us but I'm not sure yet - I've never been topless in front of another man (yes I know!) so might be a bit toooooo weird to get my baps out when I'm only wearing a thong Blush

anyway, happy saturday night guys! :)

Blimey raspberry!

I've had a TVS & it's not too bad - it's like a huge dildo with a condom on lol Hmm. Less uncomfortable than a smear!!!! Grin

LouP19 · 14/01/2012 21:31

Hello everyone,

I asked to join before Christmas, but have been away on holiday and then been poorly since so have only just read all the posts and caught up.

One comment that Josie made really hit a nerve with me. Over Christmas we saw my sister in law and her 1 year old boy. I too freeze up whenever I'm in the company of them and my nephew. Everyone knows myself and my husband have been trying for ages to have a baby, and everyone knows I had a miscarriage last year. So I just feel enormous pressure to bond with my nephew, and also very much 'watched' in how I interact with him. As a result I tend to go very quiet and keep my distance, which I'm aware may come across as rude or disinterested. But there is such a pressure there - they kept saying 'Go to Aunty Louise' for the entire 3 days we were there, and I just wanted to crawl into a box and hide.

On another note, we've been referred finally to out local Fertility Clinic, and have our first appointment in early March.

Good luck to everyone, here's hoping,........!

marshmallow2468 · 14/01/2012 22:11

Hi LouP,

I understand some of what you mean. I always feel watched with my nephew, although don't have the added complication of a previous miscarriage. I can't imagine how that must feel. But the watched thing I understand. I'm not all that great with children, but I feel that my every move is being monitored and how I react to things is being checked, and that I'm being assessed for my maternal qualities. It's worse when the PILs are about, my family don't seem to care all that much. Good luck at the fertility clinic, I hope it all goes well.

Well, had a fair amount of wine today and tonight. I know I can't be upduffed though, so not too concerned. Trying in earnest starts in a couple of weeks hopefully (assuming first natural AF arrives vaguely as expected) so I'm enjoying the wine while I know I can!

JNO18 · 15/01/2012 09:28

Raspberry the TVS was alright. Def not as bad as a smear as the probe isn't all that wide so it's not really that uncomfortable. It's really interesting as they show you your ovaries and how many eggs are developing in each one. I'd rather have that than a smear any day of the week! Sorry to hear about your near eviction. Hope everything is ok and that you ov today Smile

ChairOfTheBored · 15/01/2012 13:19

Can I ask a couple of stupid questions, being new to all this lark, and also this bit of MN.

What do all the acronyms mean? I can get TTC, but SWI? BFP, BFN? Positive and negative things.

Thanks in advance - sorry for mild diversion.

NearlyDunne · 15/01/2012 13:37

BFP is big fat positive
BFN is big fat negative
SWI i have no clue and usually smile and nod
could mean sex with intent
or sex with immortal
or swinging willy intro
im slowly learning them but if yo go to the the mumsnet talk at the top of the page and go to acronyms that should help with alot but not all.
like AF i know it mean period but no clue what AF actually is if you get me.
we can be clueless together

NearlyDunne · 15/01/2012 13:43

Im starting to think there is a chance i might be pg.... my boobs are SO sensitive and my nips are rock hard (sorry tmi) and last night and today i have been noticing smells way more like i have been smelling cigarettes but we gave up at new year and it clicked that its the soft furnishing but its such a strong smell its like some one stubbed out a cig and hid it in the house and im soooo tired.
I dont wanna get my hopes up more roll on tomorro when the tests should arrive

NearlyDunne · 15/01/2012 13:49

I am probably just reading to much into it but it does seem odd

ChairOfTheBored · 15/01/2012 13:54

Thanks Nearly. As if taking the step to decide to start on the TTC path, wasn't daunting enough, I now enter a whole new word of terminology!

NearlyDunne · 15/01/2012 13:57

I know im the same im guessing on alot and asking on otheres and some i just hope they mean what i think :)

littlemisslemon · 15/01/2012 14:11

I did my first test today and got a BFN. booo! Not really disappointed though as was expecting it really. Just need AF to hurry up now. Thought it was due as felt very crampy a few days ago but that's gone now and i just feel normal! Silly body :)

NearlyDunne · 15/01/2012 14:14

Sorry to hear that littlemiss fingers crossed for next month

littlemisslemon · 15/01/2012 14:18

Oh and raspberry, revision going ok but very tedious! What are you revising for? Its so easy to get distracted (hence on here!! Oops).

JNO18 · 15/01/2012 14:25

If you google "TTC Acronyms" then there's another website that lists them all. AF is aunt Flo! That one made me laugh x

NearlyDunne · 15/01/2012 14:41

Oh now i see Grin feel sill now

JNO18 · 15/01/2012 14:48

No need Nearly. I had no clue about that one until I googled it!

raspberrytipple · 15/01/2012 18:27

Hello all. Thanks for letting me know about the TV fairy and JNO, I hate smears so glad its not as bad

Had my photo shoot this morning, I was so nervous by the time I was in my undies I was shaking real bad but the photographer was amazing and very reassuring. Got some fab pics including some topless! I was astonished I got the confidence to take my bra off but once I'd done that I was away :) hair make up and 137 photos, two to be airbrushed all for £70! Bargain.

Then, we went to my mums and following out near eviction nightmare this weekend and my dad finding out how much he will get from my nans will they have decided to buy us a three bed house that we can chose. We will then pay them a nominal rent until we have some savings and have cleared our debt and we will then buy the house from them and they'll buy another property. They would be cash buyers to so they should be able to get a bargain. So all in all a good weekend!

JNO18 · 15/01/2012 18:33

Oh wow that's amazing Raspberry! What a great weekend!!

I did a photo shoot as a present for my DH before we got married. He loved it and I felt the same, was so nervous but it was fine when I got there. Bet you can't wait to see the pics. Looking at houses and thinking about moving will hopefully give you something else to focus on for the next few months?

After our good news with the scan yesterday we've spent the day decorating as we really want to put our flat on the market and buy a house. It's been taking my mind off the fact I'm in the 2ww anyway. I'm 7po today. My boobs are so sore but this happened last month too so not getting my hopes up at all.

Beeblebear · 16/01/2012 05:49

Ok, please let me know I'm normal.

Put your hand up if you have done the following..

A. Turned sideways and looked In the mirror and arched your back, sticking your tummy out to see what you might look like a little bit pregnant.
B. Bought our acquired some baby things already and have them stashed away for"some day"
C. POAS even though you know it's probablyo early too early to tell anyways , or were using contraception bet were sure that you had conceived anyway somehow, only to get a BFN
D. ALL OF THE ABOVE

NearlyDunne · 16/01/2012 10:39

Ok i tested..... im looking at the test now and their is a faint pink line.... is that a positive? i mean its as faint as faint can be but it is there.
