can i ask how many attempts it took and did you get it from a bank or a friend? i am currently on my first 2WW with donor sperm from a bank and its driving me mental!

I was treated at a fertility clinic and the donor was anonymous. I became quite ill during the first cycle so the embryos had to be frozen at the point of conception. When the cycle was completed several months later it was unsuccessful. I was initially devastated but really I had a sense that the whole cycle had been doomed from the beginning. My second cycle was closely managed, I didn't get I'll and I'm now 18+5. It's the culmination of six years of TTC. It's difficult to know what to say to support others. I was emotionally injured by the trauma of those six years and I learnt how to become detached but when something got through the armour it felt as though my heart was slowly being sliced in half.

How do you find a good clinic?

The HFEA website have some good information on their live birth rate Grockle. Also being close is a bonus - you may need to be able to get to the clinic very quickly so don't choose anywhere that's too far. Cost is another factor, as is their attitude towards you as a parent (not all clinics will treat single parents).

keely - I conceived first time with IUI but have no fertility issues, apart from being single!

Hi, I used a sperm donor to get pregnant, found them on a website called Pride Angel and managed to get pregnant via AI at home. Took 3 months but once sorted ovulation out managed to get it right. Are you being inseminated at the clininc? May be worth you looking on the website that I used as they have some hints on insemination although may not apply if you are doing it via the clininc.
