A 'shadow' on a pregnancy test

Hello all,

We have just started trying and, maybe I am being a tad over eager, over excited and putting a bit of pressure on myself, but I did a test today, partly because I am impatient and partly because I have had a hell of a day and fancy a glass of wine.

My period due on Friday.

The test has come back with a very sure horizontal line with a slight shadow on the vertical but not so much that it looks like it as exactly there if that makes sense?

Anyone else had this? Do I just wait and retest on Friday and, more importantly, do I have the wine?!

Oooh how exciting...as a veteran 5-times-pregnant person it looks like a BFP! Any HCG protein in your wee will produce a positive result and you don't get HCG if you're not pregnant! And don't forget it's early.

Congratulations! Have a glass of wine - baby doesn't become part of your system for a while yet. x

Thank you! I have all my fingers crossed! I will have a glass of wine but is it worth popping to the supermarket and getting a digital or just waiting until Friday to test?

Eeeek so impatient!

I had a shadow on my test on thurs morning but thought it was my eyes playing tricks on me, I even put it up to the light and decided it was negative... Roll on sat night and after a bottle of wine (this is day af is due) I did another and there was a faint positive followed by me using a digital an hour later showing 'pregnant 1-2' :)... Hope this is the same for you! It certainly sounds promising :) x

It's almost certainly a BFP! I would behave as if you were pregnant, and test again on Thursday or Friday.

I had one of these last week (clearblue) - asked DH, even he could see it - then AF landed four days later, and I swore never to test early ever again.

I hope you get your BFP, OP, but I would retest on Friday.
good luck!

My shadow on my test - and the bunch I did afterwards as I had to keep seeingif it got any darker day by day - (took about 5 to really show properly) is sitting at the kitchen doing her french homework, :-) Good luck!

Thanks for all the advice and support. I'm not counting my chickens just yet (although I have checked the test about a gazillion times in the last two hours - an update if any of you are interested, the vertical line is now definitely there now but only a very thin one on one side, nothing on the other side now).

I am going to get through the next few days (while fantisising about baby names and how to tell family and friends obviously) and then retest Friday morning (a neccessity really as I have my work Christmas do that night).

Keeping my fingers crossed and thank you all again - it is so nice to have other people to talk to, I feel I have plagued DH to death and can't really mention it to anyone else of course!

be very wary of a thin blue line on clearblue. I have had them lots of times (chronic early tester due to nasty meds I need to change when knocked up) and i have since sworn never to buy clearblue again. I have had thick blue shadow lines (barely any colour) and skinny dark blue lines, all when I was most def. not pregnant as AF arrived right on time and no other tests showed even a hint of a line.
