Fishy tea? Urgh! Deffo upduffed, congratulations! Thanks

CupcakesAndCocktails · 01/12/2011 11:30

Imps fish tasting tea?! You are definitely pregnant. Can't believe we have to wait another week to confirm it Grin

Green I'm a paediatric nurse. I hate nights too, no dc yet but I really struggle to sleep in the day. So sorry to hear about your miscarriages and ectopic. We are brooking no argument for a BFP and nice uneventful pregnancy for you.

Maybe I'm hoping to get my tree on sat, I have sorted out our decs but wanted a real tree this year. I want my tree up now Envy

Oh Pop hope you are feeling ok. God I hate AF, she paid me a visit last night (as expected). That biatch Angry

How is everyone else doing today?

DH and I have decided to stop "trying" as such this month. I think it's very unlikely that we will get a BFP while my iron & vitamin B12 levels are so low. We will just focus on having sex for fun (remember that?!) until after Xmas. I'm not leaving you brookers though, am just not paying any attention to days/ovulation etc....

PopcornMouse · 01/12/2011 11:43

Sorry AF came, cupcakes. That's my plan for the month, too, I think - hopefully we're on to a winner? :o

CupcakesAndCocktails · 01/12/2011 11:48

Definitely Pop Here come the ironic BFPs! Wink

possiblemaybebaby · 01/12/2011 11:50

Oh Cupcakes, she really is a bitch isn't she. Sex for fun is great. That's the approach we have taken this month, it's nice as I feel the pressure has eased up somewhat Smile

Pop AF is giving you a hard time as it is going to be the last you see of her for at least 10 months Grin

Imps your prep day sounds lovely. I have already made one batch of mince pies, am making another with left over mincemeat today.

Am currently tying the stupid little string of the christmas decs. Have been to the gym as well. Super productive!

PopcornMouse · 01/12/2011 12:11

I like that theory, maybe :o

Mmmmm miiiiince piiiiies...

beangrower · 01/12/2011 13:12

Hello Brooksters - ah it is December innit? And I have to find the Advent calendar (cloth tree-shaped job with pockets that you can put your own yuumy bits in). Fortunately the bean is less than 2 and not fully aware of the days/months/Chrimbo...

I thought I'd share this little surprise fact with you: one of my ovaries - right - is significantly huger than t'other. Probably not unusual. And I have a shy retroverted cervix. There you go. Got to coax the minx into sucking up the wrigglers.

Olives - totally get it that you can't see what good acu is doing. (But if you think about it - I have no idea what's going on with the plumbing half the time - needed a scan to reveal a small fibroid.) But much worse is a treatment where you have to listen instead of getting to drone on about yourself and your TTC woes. Angry But seriously - when you get updiffed it would be good to go regularly if first trimester. Find a nice -ist though. Mine is Chinese. I like her (and rate her) and she met my bean when he was a bump and somehow that makes it all the more 'fertile' an experience. Grin

And btw 36 is relatively YOUNG. (Relative to me anyhooo. Smile)

Pop - not sure which is worse live mice or mice guts. But still - I imagine cat was pleased with himself. Terrier would spend all the time chasing the cat and the mice would be sorted. Not going to work, I don't think, but thanks for the offer.

Why do I always write such looooong posts? Sorry Brookers.

Imps - congratulations. PREG-GO.

I think Whimsi is due to confirm and Solars is in 2ww.

I am preparing for my month of SFF not SWI, along with all of you. AF has pretty much done her damage (though wish she would clear off more thoroughly... hate these last little reminder days - cd5/6).

GenericDietCola · 01/12/2011 13:46

A quick one from me as I've spent too long on MN over the last few days

Imps the law of boobs is never wrong so congratulations!

Cupcakes sorry about AF. But enjoy the SFF along with Popcorn and Bean (but not altogether of course... unless you're into that kind of thing!)

Maybe I am well jel of your days off. I am looking forward to putting up the tree this weekend and getting into the Christmas spirit.

I finally got my blood results back and they are fine - hCG is pretty high, so I am relieved. Hopefully next week will show it has got higher and I can relax a little bit more.

Solars · 01/12/2011 14:10

Hello ladies!

Maybe I'm here, real life is just getting increasingly busy at the moment so not a lot of time for MN [boo hiss] How lovely to be spending the next couple of days getting ready for christmas, we don't really celebrate christmas as such but as we all have the time off we do gather together with family and I love gathering because it means food and I love food!!! I celebrate anything that involves food!!

So sorry to hear of that crazy lady visiting Cupcakes & Popcorn THIS will be the last time! I see you're both on for ironic bfps this month, well played ladies!

Imps I'm not too far behind you on DPOs I think i'm on 3/4DPO as not sure whether I OV'd on sunday or monday. I actually had to count the days, this being busy lark is great for the 2ww as I'm not keeping much track! By the way you are so obviously preggo with those symptoms!

Generic so glad to hear that your HCG levels are high, sounds like minicola is a mischievous one, making you worry. Hope all is well x

A big mistletoe kiss to everyone else xx

TheLittleFriend · 01/12/2011 14:11

Just a quick one from me too

That is FANTASTIC blood test news generic x

Sorry af arrived cupcakes. I think that means you'll be getting one of those September genius babies next year though

maybe - what's Otis going to think of the xmas decs?

Still no af here. Maybe a bit of belly ache though, so she might be turning up this weekend

CupcakesAndCocktails · 01/12/2011 14:14

Generic I'm so glad the blood results are good. Hope you'll be able to relax a bit now. Have a lovely weekend.

Bean I would never have figured you had a shy cervix Wink. Heres to not ttc, it's the new way to get a baby Grin

I've just been and ordered my Xmas tree. It will be here within the hour! So excited!

Stasi · 01/12/2011 14:22

Afternoon all. Glad to see everyone is starting to feel Christmassy. Usually I would complain that it's far too early, but I need something else to focus on, so I think I might join you in prep.

Imps - I love the idea of making things ahead and freezing them, why have I never thought of that before? What sort of things make-ahead well? There must be some internet resource that will tell me these things, right? I might steal your plans on the mini quiches and bacon sausages. Will they keep until the 24th, or should I wait a while? Also, grats on the obvious BFP. Though sorry it made your tea taste bad.

Bean - you have inspired me (in a round-about way) to make an advent calendar. I saw an easy one in the paper the other day I might try. Just a rectangle of cloth for the backing, then a coat hanger to support it. You cut and fold the fabric at the top to go round the hanger, then have a square/rectangle of cloth dangling down to sew pockets on to for goodies. It's late night shopping tonight too, so maybe I can buy some fabric on the way home.

Popcorn - My cat brings me dead things, they always have all their bits though. Very glad I've never had guts to clean up.

Jealous of those of you with days off. I've got to wait a couple more weeks for mine. The last month has gone by very quickly though, so hopefully the next one will too.

On the TTC front, I was too tired to SWI last night, so missed out a day. We'll play catch-up tonight though. Generally my Ov day has been CD16, we're CD14 today (and temps nice and low this morning) so I think we'll be fine if we SWI tonight and Sat. I was sitting on the bus on the way in to work this morning thinking about how much I want kids. They seem to be everywhere. There was a mum struggling to get her pushchair on the bus, and I found myself sitting there wishing it was me. I want to be the mum of that screaming baby.

I should get back to work. I'm sure there's something productive I could be doing..

Imps7 · 01/12/2011 15:01

Ker-pow!

(That was the sounds of me punching Cupcakes' AF in the face)

Not TTC is so totally the new TTC. There will be celebrations aplenty come Christmas/New Year, you mark my words.

Stasi I have a huge mild obsession with my freezer - ever since I discovered that it doesn't have to just be used for ice cream/random unidentified foodstuff that have been there for 14 years, it have come to depend on it. For Christmas I am making and freezing the following:

Sausages wrapped in bacon (freeze raw, I will prob defrost before cooking)
Mini trout and tarragon quiches (freeze cooked, heat from frozen before serving)
Sage and onion stuffing balls (freeze raw, I'll cook from frozen)
Chicken gravy (I'm trying out the Jamie Oliver get ahead gravy recipe this year - making gravy on the day is the one thing that stresses me out about roasts)

All of the above will easily last in the freezer until Christmas Eve/Day and probably even a bit longer than that.

I have also very successfully frozen braised red cabbage in the past - defrost and then heat through with some butter and it's delicious. Some people also prepare, blanch and freeze other veg (e.g. brussels, carrots etc) but I tend to like doing those on the morning.

I like to think that freezing stuff would be my Mastermind subject!

ScrambledSmegs · 01/12/2011 15:08

Crikey you lot talk loads!

Green I'm so sorry to hear about your etopic pregnancy. I hadn't considered that as a possibility, but I will definitely do a test later to rule it out. I've been using OPK's though and I got a few negatives till CD12 & 13. Surely I'd have got constant positives?

Sorry to hear about AF, Cupcakes. SFF sounds like a great idea though, enjoy!

Imps fishy tasting tea? Definitely upduffed!

Yay for good results, Generic!

Shy cervix, bean? Lordy, they do come up with some terms, don't they? Gives me a mental image of a cervix hiding behind a fan in a period drama, now that would be something! I hope that means things are basically ok?

Maybe and Imps - how on earth are you finding the time?! I haven't made a single thing for christmas yet. I have no kitchen yet, that's my excuse. DH is still taking a painfully long time to agree the final plans.

Bleeding appears to have settled down to nearly nothing. I do, however, have uber-sore nipples Hmm. Temps shot up this morning so I think in all liklihood it was a very bad ovulation bleed. Hopefully that means the egg was a biggie, so more chance of DH's little fellas finding it!

Imps7 · 01/12/2011 15:13

Tee hee Smegs - I suspect the fact that Maybe and I are trying for our first child (not together, obviously) may answer your question Grin

PopcornMouse · 01/12/2011 15:35

What's a shy cervix, bean? Does it need a pre-SWI pep talk? :o
I apparently have a tilted cervix, according to the pain caused by my last smear nurse. Don't think this means much in practise, though.

I have no advent calendar. My 2010 calendar got binned in February still in its plastic wrap. I am just not a chocolate person ? now if Haribo made calendars, it'd be another story entirely...

Glad your results have come back positively, generic :)

stasi it sounds like you've got a great plan for perfectly-timed SWI :)
I know exactly what you mean but it will happen for you, honest.

Smegs glad you've figured out what probably caused the bleed!

Imps7 · 01/12/2011 15:46

Yes, if only our eggs were bigger and took up the whole width of the tube - then there'd be NO WAY the spermies could miss it. Mother Nature missed a trick there.

I'm not a fan of chocco advent calendars Popcorn - they're not traditional enough for me and don't remind me of Christmas! I like the old fashioned ones with proper pictures behind the window, not just plastic and remnants of foil

Stasi · 01/12/2011 16:04

I always think of the sperm journey in the format of that Channel 4 documentary The Great Sperm Race. There's so many things our bodies do to kill off the foreign sperm invaders. It's amazing they ever get there.

beangrower · 01/12/2011 17:45

Hello - I made up 'shy cervix' - mea culpa. I think like Pop I'm tilted (medical term: retroverted - facing to the spine).

Our advent cal will contain baby belles, marsh mellows and tinsy belgian waffles. But not all on one day. Grin Hope the non-choccers approve. Stasi - impressed you'll be making one.

DS and I have had a lovely long cuddle (he's knackered as missed nap). Was so rare as he's normally so busy. Made me wonder if it isn't just great being a mum of 1 (and manageable) and giving DS full attention etc... Somehow TTC2 seems to be an itch I can't stop scratching though... APART from this month when we are all having SFF....

x

beangrower · 01/12/2011 17:56

ps - all, of course TTC is much more than an 'itch' but I hope you get my gist. If I was sensible I would just thank my stars and get on with life.

Btw - like Imps' question about egg visuals. I think of mine as a tiny jelly-like golf ball (I'm sure I've eaten something like this in a Chinese restau)... My Mum would be chuffed; she was Welsh Girls Golf Champ back on the Middle Ages. Smile

Munkiii · 01/12/2011 18:54

Wow chatty ladies!

I have survived my first week back at work, phew!

Generic yay!

Boo hiss for AF, ow very dare she......

Stasi I think we are in the same boat, I got my positive OPK afternoon so SWI tonight and then on Saturday. Fingers crossed......

Apologies (yet again) for not name checking but I am brooking hard for you all!

TheLittleFriend · 01/12/2011 19:33

Imps just wanted to say I made Jamie Oliver's get ahead gravy last year and it was very tasty (Everyone else agreed too.) In fact, I'm definitely going to do it again, thanks for reminding me!

possiblemaybebaby · 01/12/2011 20:11

Yay for results Generic very high HCG you say? Twins??!! Grin

Grin at Imps and I trying for our first!! I too am trying that gravy recipe for the first time this year too! great minds and all that!!

Solars so good to see you. And glad that it is only real life business that is keeping you from us Smile

Bean your calendar sounds amazing.

Glad things are settling Smegs keeping my fingers crossed for a nice juicy egg.

Stasi you will be the mum of that screaming baby, you mark my words Smile

Little Otis is very interested shall we say Grin He is actually being quite good. Plus we went and bought some anti-chew spray. In the interests of science, DH and I thought we should see if it really is as bitter as it claims. Oh my, it really is Shock

ScrambledSmegs · 01/12/2011 20:51

Ooh, I missed that about Generic's high HCG levels. Twins indeed!

I am going to POAS in about 10 minutes after Masterchef , as per GreenOlive's suggestion. Anyone want to hold my hand and pray that it's a BFN?!

Munkiii · 01/12/2011 20:55

I'm here smegs
