SmegTheHalls · 13/12/2011 12:22

Ooh, I was wrong. Low T4's = hypothyroidism. Dodgy thyroid = sub-fertility.

Hmm. He did say it was only slightly low. Wonder if there's anything I can eat/take that will help thyroid function?

beangrower · 13/12/2011 12:56

Hi all. Enjoying the festive larks but would encourage you to put the wet fish away, poor creature. Sweetie - I think it shows poor judgement not to have worries about parenting. I am acquainted with guilt in a way I never imagined before my pg and DS. But as Smegs days, its worth every drop of worry, guilt breastmilk and tears. Don't forget the blood. Oops meant to be helping here... Your DS is right. Regrets are worse. Can't wait for your BFP.

Smegs shoulder stands in yoga really help with thyroid issues. A good acupuncturist will also do wonders. Good luck.

Pop - I'm stuck on idea of manboobs decreasing with HCG..?

beangrower · 13/12/2011 12:58

Sorry that should be your DH Sweetie! Bloody HTC....

GreenOlives · 13/12/2011 14:35

I agree with the others Sweetie, tis completely normal and sensible to have worries about bringing a new person into the world. I remember being really heavily pregnant with DS and everyone saying "bet you can't wait to have the baby now" and all I could think was OMG, I'm going to have a baby and I won't know what to do with it, I'm not ready, not responsible enough etc, etc. I was quite happy to stay pregnant for a good while longer Xmas Grin However, since he arrived I have never regretted it for a second (well maybe just for a second when he's being a little shit monkey Wink) and clearly I am desperate for another so that speaks volumes!

Hope the painkillers have kicked in now Imps and that the other poorly brookers are feeling much better. I've no idea about natural thyroid treatments Smegs, what does Dr Google recommend?

I'm requiring a bit of brooking spirit today gals. I was trying to stay really positive but last night I suddenly felt all depressed - I feel like the little dream of a nice BFP on Christmas day is nothing more than that, just a dream Sad My last 2 BFPs took 13 months and 10 months to arrive so what makes me think it will happen first try this time? (especially with one tube missing now) And then even if it does I feel like it won't stick just like the last 3 Sad. Then I get cross with myself for wallowing! Sorry for being a misery, just feel a bit sad today.

IMaybeanElf · 13/12/2011 14:41

Oh Olives, here, have a squeeze. And an eggnog. You are allowed to wallow time to time, that's what we are here for - when you are wallowing we are brooking Xmas Smile You will get that BFP, and AF will stay away. You hear that AF, do you????

Stasi · 13/12/2011 14:53

Afternoon all.

Well, I'm on 10 or 11 DPO, feel a bit sick and a bit crampy, and also had a slight drop in temp this morning. Not by much, but enough to make me a little worried about AF turning up today. Normally I get a clear temp drop back below the baseline the morning of AF, this didn't reach baseline, and so far no AF. That didn't make much sense. Xmas Confused Still got sore boobs, but still not symptom spotting! I'm sure the sickness was just hunger, and is now from eating too much. On another note, DH's SA results should be back tomorrow...

Munkii your scan sounded terrible, I hope you're feeling much better today.

Imps really hope your back gets better soon. Fingers and everything else crossed for your new job. Really hope it works out for you and you find out for certain before the Christmas break.

Maybe Sorry it's confirmed AF, glad you're feeling a bit better after your puffiness yesterday.

Sweetie I think wobbles are natural and to be expected. Though I admit I don't often have them, I was lucky enough to have brothers which were much younger than me, so I've done lots of nappy changing and bed time stories, right through to advising on going to university and helping with bullying and coming out as gay!

I do however wonder about our baby - Are we grown up enough? Will I handle the lack of sleep? Will I like breastfeeding, or find it horribly painful? Will our child behave, or will we be terrible at discipline and have everyone in our family tutting about how awful our child is?

Far really glad you're feeling so good after your holiday. I think DH and I could maybe do with a nice relaxing break somewhere. I want to have a nice holiday to look forward to next year. I wonder where we should go? Ofc, in the back of my mind I'll be thinking "what if we're pg then?'' sigh :( You WILL have your DH's babies - brooking no argument! I haven't got any presents at all. DH is off work this week, but is playing games and failing to think about presents. Today is his last day of pleasant reminding, tomorrow it will be full on nagging.

Smegs hope you feel better soon. Are you taking care of yourself and taking it easy? Sometimes it's going back to work too soon that keeps you sick for longer. I hope the thyroid results get sorted out, do you have another appointment to talk about them with him? Or a plan of action? If you can you should get the exact numbers off him, that way you can consult Dr Google and see what the consensus is. I think there's some concern that doctors consider certain results as fine, but don't take into account the levels you're meant to be at for ttc.

Beedle I hope your aches go away, or turn into a BFP :)

Olives I wish I could give you a hug and tell you everything will be fine. I really hope your dream comes true, but I also know you're strong enough to get through it if it doesn't. You are obviously a very strong and determined woman to have gone through so much, and you WILL get that BFP.

SmegTheHalls · 13/12/2011 15:09

Exercise is the apparently best thing for low thyroxine levels, so I'm off out for a run. I found some stuff called L-Tyrosine which is supposed to support a healthy thyroid, but I think I'll hold off on taking more supplements till I've had the CD21 results as well.

bean I will definitely be looking into acupuncture, I'm trying to find someone in my area who won't be painfully expensive and specialises in fertility problems. Apparently those criteria are pretty tricky to meet Xmas Sad Yoga is an option too, although I'm more of a pilates girl.

Stasi a slight dip on 10DPO, eh? Hmm, suspicious

SmegTheHalls · 13/12/2011 15:14

Olives, you deserve a post all to yourself. Have a big squeezy hug from me. I know it will happen for you, and I'm brooking no argument that it will not be a long wait either.

So sorry you're feeling down. I hope you get lots of TLC at home today.

DeckTheHallsWithPopcornMice · 13/12/2011 15:31

smegs I think low iodine can be responsible for some low thyroid activity. It does change, though, and your levels could be different next time you test.

Olives I think we all have days like that, I know I do - it's totally ok to feel like pants. We'll be here, brooking on your behalf :)

SweetieTinselandBaubles · 13/12/2011 18:08

Olives hope you come out the other side of the blue patch soon. Brooking extra hard for the festive BFPs we are all going to get. Yeah!!!

I am sort of over my earlier wobble due to everyone on here being so bloody lovely. Thanks to everyone for today, I really did think I was the only one having such thoughts Xmas Blush

musicalmrs · 13/12/2011 18:15

Olive, adding some extra brooking on your behalf :)

Sweetie, not sure if I talk for all the other PSEPPs, but I know I still have moments when I think "Is this the right thing? Can we cope? Will we make good parents?" etc etc! I think it's only natural to worry about these kinds of things...

Maybe, so sorry AF finally got you. But at least it's for the final time ;)

Imps, fingers crossed you get some job news soon! :)

beangrower · 13/12/2011 18:49

Olives I feel sure it won't take so long now. You've done your time in terms of shit experiences. Sending you a super brook.

All it would take is one shoulder stand a day for five mins Sweetie - and it's v relaxing. I'm off to do my every other day yogs soon.

Stasi - egg just implanted! Hurray.

Getting my blood results back tomorrow - all the way to Harley St for a 15 min debrief. And DP is in Africa so if the news is crap I'll just have to get on with stuff. Might be best that way.

Get a good TTC sleep you lot. X

GreenOlives · 13/12/2011 19:55

Thanks for all your kind words ladies, you're all great Smile. DH is on lates this week so now DS is tucked up I'm going to have a large decaf Brew then get myself an early night. I'm brooking no argument that I will wake up tomorrow with renewed positivity and that you will get great blood results Bean!

ArcticMunkiiii · 13/12/2011 20:54

smegs I have an under active thyroid. When controlled with thyroxine it should prove no problem.

green so sorry you are feeling down, it will happen...and soon!

Stasi I think we are at exactly the same stage, I am 11dpo as well, achey boobs and pains in my ovaries ?!?! But that could be from the rummaging..... When is AF notdue?

Hope all improves on the job and back front imps fingers crossed.

sweetie glad you are over your wobble, we all get them! I remember when I was pg with DD crying hysterically in town when I realised I was going to have to bath a baby....and freaked out...how to do it?!?!

maybe hope AF is not being too hard on you...

Thinking of bean tomorrow, good luck at the appointment.

And hello far, popcorn, beedle and cupcakes and of course have

Hope I haven't forgotten everyone.

Thanks again for all the support re the appointment and the aftermath, you lot are great.

Hello too to biscuits, ninja, musicalmrs, little and all other PSEPP!

IMaybeanElf · 14/12/2011 08:07

Morning all! I hope everyone is feeling back on top for a non-brooking rat smacking day Xmas Grin

I am thinking AF may well be on the turn. Hurrah. I am going to kick her arse one last time though, make sure she really gets the picture.

Any mre symptoms to report Stasi and Munk?

I so don't want to leave my house this morning. It is soooo chilly and windy and it would be much more fun wrapped in a blanket watching a film. But alas, I must venture out

LateToThisBabyMalarky · 14/12/2011 08:18

Was catching up on where you all are (as I sometimes do) and saw a little note from Far Xmas Smile Thanks for thinking of me - all is going well so far this time, unbelievable I will be 15 weeks on Friday!!! Xmas Shock the 12 week scan was reassuringly normal and average which was a huge relief, and we are planning to tell our families at Christmas. (I know we've left it a long time to make our announcement, but after last time... And also don't forget I was the freak who would only PIAR when AF was more than 1 week late!)

Imps, I share your views on 'Santa', it's Father Christmas to me and always will be Grin (btw, WHY are you still here!?!?)

Hello to everyone else who remembers me, keep brooking coz it works Xmas Wink and have good Christmases all!

DeckTheHallsWithPopcornMice · 14/12/2011 09:25

Hi late!!! Wow, 15 weeks - unbelievable it's gone so fast! I'm sure your families will be over the moon, what a fab Christmas gift! :)

Good luck bean - we are here if it's shit on a stick, but it will be good news so you won't need us at all :o

ScarlettInSpace · 14/12/2011 09:54

Firstly I don?t want you to think I dumped my confusion the other day and ran ? I am still lurking but mainly on my phone as have had v busy week with work so far. Also am still getting to know who everyone is so apologies for not name-checking Xmas Wink

Sorry to hear anyone who feels they have to decide to stop ttc, must be v tough decision x

I am drinking with abandon [responsibly of course, I've not got a problem lol], it is Christmas and I have a busy job and an equally busy personal life so why add any more stress to the cauldron? I have managed to completely cut out caffeine however, and that is the only concession I am making this month so there.

I have also [finally] got OH to agree I can get a puppy in the new year so I?m blatantly flying in the face of Sod, who?s Law clearly dictates:

a/ I will get Pg in a month I have drunk, smoked and generally eaten cack & swerved the gym to abundance so as to make me feel incredibly guilty and spend the whole 9 months imagining my child in and out of prison and ending up on the Jeremy Kyle show when he will clearly blame my bad Pg habits for his rubbish life; and

b/ It is ridiculously difficult to rear a puppy whilst being heavily Pg and only a stupid person would attempt it, and OH will [as he keeps predicting] end up cleaning up the poo and walking it so the dog will love him more and resent the baby [which will also come out on afore-mentioned JK Show].

Roll on Christmas eve so I can get the Predictor out lol! This month for once I think I will be happy either way that?s what I keep telling myself anyway
Is 3 dpo too early to feel headachy, tired and nauseous btw or is that symptom spotting gone mad?! Xmas Blush I felt like poo yesterday but suspect it was just a work/stressy day thing coupled with a cold that keeps threatening to attack but never quite launching its full assault?

Lovely to see Pg peeps popping up on the thread, keep ?em coming Xmas Grin
Bigs hugs all round x

DeckTheHallsWithPopcornMice · 14/12/2011 10:02

Xmas Grin scarlett

IMaybeanElf · 14/12/2011 10:04

Haha Scarlett that was my theory too! Currently have a very cute puppy who is so much of a handful that it will make it doubly difficult if when I get my January BFP Xmas Grin What are you going to get?

Late so so good to see you 15 weeks!!!! Blimey how time flies Xmas Grin so good all is well with you and minilate. Your families are going to be so so happy for you!

What time is your appontment Bean? Brooking like there's no tomorrow Xmas Smile

whimsicalname · 14/12/2011 10:06

Hello Scarlett we haven't 'met' I don't think. The puppy sounds like an excellent idea. It will be terrible timing, and therefore guaranteed to help with the ttc.

Hello everyone else. Goodness only knows what I've been doing, but it hasn't involved a computer other than to run through a gazillion track changes in a paper I've been trying to submit for months.

Sorry to hear about the odd wobbles. It's a tough time of year, I think. Lots of colds and sniffles, everyone's tired from a long time since a holiday (well, except far of course) and that combined with lots of late nights, stodgy food and boozy enforced socialising is as guaranteed to make for grumpiness as a troupe of red coats. Or is that just me? Oh, and the whole virgin birth thing

I'm trying to keep up with everyone. You all went and changed your names! Sneaky. It's like you're lurking in the mistletoe waiting to jump out on unsuspecting DHs. At least we're still on this thread.

Not much to report. Somewhere in the middle of my cycle. Trying to make sure we dtd every 3rd day, which basically means trying to make sure we're not too tipsy. Feel a bit more relaxed about things this month. I think the viva was a stress too far. AF not due til the 2nd or 3rd, but might do a sneaky test on NYE to see if I can have fun or not.

Sorry for thousand word post.

See you all soon.

whimsicalname · 14/12/2011 10:11

By the way, was any one following the 'Only 14 and up the duff' conversation? I dipped in and out in with much curiosity, and it appears to have been pulled. Any idea what the outcome was? Hoax or just too unpleasant?

farfallarocks · 14/12/2011 10:17

Hooray for late, so glad the scan went well, 15 weeks!!!!!

smeg do you have your actual numbers from the thyroid test? Do you know what your TSH was? I have read about those supplements as well, B vits are meant to be excellent too. Also excercise as you say and a couple of brazil nuts a day which contain selemium (and is very hard to absorb in vitamin format)
Apparently you need to avoid stimulants like coffee and booze (boring!!)

olives big hugs to you, we all know that feeling well enough, extra big hugs to you. It will happen

stasi I recommend somewhere nice and and hot and sunny. You should definitely just go ahead an dbook it you can't put your life on hold. My grandmother also swears that sea water is what got her updiffed after tryniog for 2 yrs so maybe somewhere like that?

farfallarocks · 14/12/2011 10:18

whimsical I think it was a troll, bloody awful as it started off in the miscarriages section before moving to pregnancy.

SmegTheHalls · 14/12/2011 10:18

Scarlet Xmas Grin I think your chances of being upduffed this month just went stratospheric!

Thanks for the info about thyroxine, Munkiii. I am not sure if it really is a thyroid problem, as I've been ill for a little while now and my glands are humungous (think hamster with full cheek pouches). If it is though I'm very happy, as it's quite simple to treat.

Late wow 15 weeks! I'm so glad everything is going well, and I bet your families are going to be over the moon for you.

Good luck for your appointment today, bean!

at Popcorn

In a very clear demonstration of how to be a crap GP, DH was refused an SA by his as 'you already have a kid and there's no point'! He tried very hard to put his point across but the guy didn't have great english and refused to listen to DH anyway. Yes, in all liklihood there is nothing wrong with his wrigglers, but FGS it was requested by my GP to eliminate that as a potential problem. DH is going to make another appointment with a different GP and make it very clear that it is non-negotiable. And if that doesn't work I will go with him the next time and get all weepy on their asses.

And breathe...
