Afternoon lovely ladies!

Glad to hear bikegate came to a peaceful end Imps! It seems it was a polite cyclist who temporarily forgot their manners when parking their bike!

There does seem to be a nursing trend amongst us doesn't there? Hello to my other fellow nurses Have and MrPopcorn. I have everything crossed for good results from MrHave's MRI today Xmas Smile

Well Whimsical, how dare she sneak down the chimney like that, it's just plain rude! After Santa's been you can block the chimney up so there's no way in next month Xmas Grin

I await confirmation of the blindingly obvious from Maybe and Little Xmas Wink

For those that asked I'm seeing Shrek on Monday, I'm so excited, I love Shrek Xmas Grin I had a fancy dress party for my 30th and DH and I went as Shrek and Princess Fiona (ogre style!) I still have fond hazy memories of DH desparately trying to wipe green face paint off and get my costume off whilst I was passed out on top of the bed Xmas Grin

Cycle day 8 here, should be starting the SWI tonight but also need to apply fake tan ready for the wedding tomorrow

Happy weekend everyone! x

PopcornMouse · 02/12/2011 14:26

Lol @ imps' DH :o
Luckily DH is a big fan of multi-vits. He has been known to drink brocolli water (but just once. Apparently it wasn't worth it :o )

I think the missing charts tend to be anovulatory, Imps ?

bean I don't envy you IKEA x_x

Generic no way! That's terrible! [hshock]
People in our street (no off street parking here, either ? but no railings either!) are pretty good tbh.

Imps7 · 02/12/2011 14:27

Bean do you take your temperatures? I would really recommend it if you want to know exactly when you ovulate. You can see from my charts here, here and here that there is a clear rise in temperature showing when ovulation occurred. I had no idea that I ovulated so late until taking my temperatures but it is always between days 18-20.

Unfortunately I never got to grips with OPKs - the first one I used led me up the garden path! It may be worth trying charting, just to see if you get on with it - for me, it definitely takes the guess work - and with that a lot of the stress - out of TTC. Thermometers are about £5 on Amazon!

PopcornMouse · 02/12/2011 14:28

:o @ olives smelling of beef crisps. How can he resist?!

Ooo Shrek! Let us know if it's any good? I am deeeesperate to see the new Puss In Boots movie :)

Imps7 · 02/12/2011 14:29

"various points" NOT "very points". Seriously, what is wrong with me today??

GreenOlives · 02/12/2011 14:31

Will do, I love Puss in Boots, the bit where he coughs up the furball in one of the Shrek movies make me cry with laughter!

GreenOlives · 02/12/2011 14:33

makes not make - the typos are catching Imps and I can't even blame baby brain!

Stasi · 02/12/2011 14:42

I've read everything people have said, and promptly forgot most of it. None of it was boring though! I just have Friday-post-lunch brain. I would like to sleep at my desk, or at least close my eyes for a while, however there's no rest for the wicked.

Have - really hope MrHave's scan results are good. I have to have a CT scan every year to check for the cancer coming back, and my consultant can generally give me the results the next day. However, I have had to chase them a couple of times, and when that happens it can take up to 2 weeks to get your results. I think they just put your file to the bottom of the pile and carry on with work as usual, forgetting that it's still important to you.

Generic - I was fantasising about twins this morning. DH only wants 2 kids max, so if we got them both at once I'd never have to go through this TTC hell again. I think I should take things one step at a time though, and actually get a BFP!

Little - you will find that agreeable pee stick, I'm sure. Very impressed you've held out this long. I think I'd be peeing on things every day twice a day!

I think I might have to go back to some vits. I bought the pregnacare ones when we were first trying, but didn't bother replacing them when they ran out. Been taking the Tesco version on and off for the last 3 months, but generally only just before/during the 2ww. DH hasn't taken any for a while, but is happy to swallow whatever I hand him.

beangrower · 02/12/2011 14:51

Thanks Imps. I can't decide whether to get a fertility monitor, or just chart. (I have avoided both as I thought I'd be adding to my stress levels.) I have joined FF anyway - so perhaps it's time to chart (a NY's resolution methinks). Certainly cheaper!

I'll wait for my bloods results on 14 December to confirm that nothing is dreadfully amiss other than old age. I suspect that my cd12 smiley face is a bit misleading and that I ov more like cd15. I'm going to assume that we should be shagging a lot about 17 days before AF is due for at least 3 days with SEOD round the egg-dges (see what I did there - phnah phnah).

Though not this month of course as we are all having SFF. Xmas Grin

Stasi a BFP coming your way. Get some vits on the go! (You need the folic acid anyway.)

x

Loooopy · 02/12/2011 14:53

Little you could still get a BFP. with DS, due to DP being away with work and tired and stressed, and as it was our first month trying and we weren't that worried about how long it would take, we only did SWI once! so i know exactly when DS was conceived. And as i have said before on here, i got a BFN 17 days after SWI and then got my BFP 23 days after the SWI. The only thing i don't know, is what day i would have got a BFP from, as i was very patient and didn't test between day 17 and day 23 past conception, mainly as i didn't really expect us to succeed on our first attempt. (both in 30's, both overweight, both liked a drink for most of the last 15 years or so etc and all the articles saying how long it takes on average to succeed blah blah)

However this time round, i can see me being a lot less patient...probably mainly due to the fact i have had to wait till now to even get my AF's back because i chose to keep BF'ing DS.

Imps glad the railing situation is sorted.

maybe PAICR now please!! have enough edge of the seat stuff in my life already with all the soaps i watch, so look forward to you confirming a BFP ASAP :)

generic exciting news re hcg. So will they be able to tell from your next blood test if it is twins by how much the levels go up? Would this mean you get a scan sooner?? Good luck either way!

bean i know someone who had her first DC this time last year, and is having second DC next May, just before she turns 40. And my mom had my brother at 40 in the 80's. You still have time on your side, have faith, it will happen for us all soon, i reckon there will be flood of BFPS over the next month.

have hope the news is good re your DH.

whimsical sorry re AF. looks like there will be lots of us having clever September babies at this rate!

haven't time to namecheck everyone else, limited time to do stuff while DS has his nap but hope you are all well, and have a good weekend! I pop in regularly to catch up on the postings, but there are usually that many, that i am lucky if i can catch up on them before DS wakes up, and it is rare i find the time to post properly!! (oh before i forget, i took pregnacare from the minute we decided to try for DS, so had been on them for a couple of weeks i guess? will never know if they played any part, but i have taken them throughout pregnancy and have still been taking them because of breastfeeding, and i do feel run down on the odd days i don't remember to take them, so personally i do think they are worth taking) I also stopped drinking when we decided to try, but didn't do any exercise, i'm not that kind of person, and i have since read that if you are too fit and healthy it can sometimes affect your chances of conceiving, something about your body needing extra fat for it to sustain a pregnancy/a growing baby? again, could be rubbish, but most of the people i know that have struggled have been uber fit/thin, and most that have had babies lately have had no shortage of boobs and curves. But could be utter coincidence...

Stasi · 02/12/2011 15:01

Bean I also recommend charting. It sounds weird, but it does help me relax. We SWI every 2 days till my temp rise, then SFF, or not at all. Also my temp drops the morning AF will start, so I know before I get up and can get a nice cuddle from DH in the morning before having to face the day. Temping takes away 90% of the uncertainty for me, I only have to 'guess' what day my ov will be, and because I've got accurate data for the last 8 cycles, even that isn't much of a guess.

However, I realise I'm lucky in how neat my charts are. Some people just don't get those nice obvious temp changes.

Imps7 · 02/12/2011 15:23

Re: neatness of charts - it's really important to take your temp at exactly the same time every morning, preferably as soon as you wake up - I find mine can change drastically even in the space of half an hour which is why I don't often take my temp at the weekend, or if I do (because, for example, I'm approaching Ov or AF) I actually set my alarm so I can do it at 6:30am!!

I also find that I can only get reliable temperatures by charting fanjoly - orally didn't work for me at all.

I love charting! I think I'll carry on taking my temperature every day for the rest of my life! (Okay, maybe not).

PopcornMouse · 02/12/2011 16:28

I love temping too! It's reassuring getting that little "you have ovulated" crosshair. But I still have rocky-mountain charts, despite temping fanjolly. I don't take them at exactly the same time though, but within a half hour Xmas Hmm

beangrower · 02/12/2011 18:00

Thanks all - well you have made the decision easy. I will temp from next cycle.

Thanks Loopy - most of the mums I know are close to 40 or beyond. It just seems that it's more of a lottery at this age and I suspect you do have to work harder to look after yourself to create the best chances of a good pg. But that's ok - it's worth it.

Maybe - exciting. We are all waiting to hear about your BFP. Little - still hoping.

xxx

possiblemaybebaby · 02/12/2011 20:16

Evenin' all

Little I am not giving up hope. We will find a pee stick that agrees with you.

Bean I was just getting into my temping before the pup came along. Then it all went out the window! Bit I will start the next cycle which I won't have to as I am clearly upduffed

Looopy you are right in what you say. Any extreme in body fat, whether it be too little or too much can hinder chances of conception. I myself love exercise, but am more careful these days not to over do it Smile

Stasi I need to get back on the pregnacare. I ran out just after pup arrived and never got round to replacing them which obviously is going to lead to an ironic BFP

Xmas Grin at beef crisps Olives

I don't know if/when I shall be PIACC. I have been suspiciously self-restrained this month, and haven't wee'd on a single piece of cardboard Xmas Grin

What are everyone's plans this chilly winter's eve? I am snuggled in my new White Company dressing gown and slippers sipping a glass of red whilst waiting for our cheeky Thai takeaway to arrive. Hadn't had a takeaway in months, and am really looking forward to it [greedy Maybe emoticon]

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 02/12/2011 20:40

Had a curry, drinking cider and watch Glee while DH saves the world again on his ps3.

Biscuitsandtea · 02/12/2011 22:32

Any news from MrFaith's scan?

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 02/12/2011 22:41

Any that it happened ok. He felt a bit claustraphobic but he managed it. He thinks something is up because all the team paused round the screen to look at one point...who knows, could be nothing. I tried to get him to call the consulants secretary but he wanted to wait til Monday.

Biscuitsandtea · 02/12/2011 22:46

Well at least it is all done - that's a good thing. Hopefully it was nothing bad when they were looking at the screen? So will the consultant's sec. know the results? Hope so. At least it's all moving along fairly promptly now.

How's he doing coming off the meds? Hope that doesn't sound too nosey - I don't mean it to Smile

possiblemaybebaby · 02/12/2011 23:29

Ah, I'm sure all will be ok Have Thank goodness his PS3 is taking his mind off it and giving you some peace and quiet so you can watch Glee Xmas Grin

TheLittleFriend · 03/12/2011 13:24

Yay little that's awesome news - great stuff indeed!!!

Stasi · 03/12/2011 14:27

Wow Little sooooooo pleased for you! We all knew it was going to be a BFP, but congrats on finding a willing pee stick Xmas Grin

Imps7 · 03/12/2011 14:36

Oh Little that wonderful news!!! Totally delighted for you Grin Grin!! Not to make too personal a comment, but I wonder which shag did it??!!

Well done you Grin!
