Oh Scooter poor you. What a crap birthday. So sorry it's like this for you, thank goodness it is almost over.

I was just out for some food with DH and we were talking about best and worst days of the year. My birthday was pretty awful too. I was pregnant but between inconclusive scans. Felt fat and miserable and unable to tell anyone I was pregnant as I knew it probably wasn't going right.

Buster Pre-Seed is a lubrication that helps conception I think. I have never used it myself but have heard good things. The Sperm Meets Egg plan has got me pregnant twice first time. It's about TTC after mc. Not sure what's different about this as compared to just TTC in general but it seems to work quite well! Here you go:

Hello Lemon hope your tree looks nice! I am not in the Christmas mood either, no decs in my flats (we are back to London tomorrow) and probably won't bother either as not in one place for long enough to appreciate. I think for many of us on the thread Christmas is nothing special this year. But I am never hugely Christmassy anyway as am normally away. I told DH earlier we had to make an effort to enjoy it in some way as we both will have time off work so we might as well try to relax if possible.

Now, I have a question for you super ovulation ladies. Digi you might be able to help to. It's on behalf of my friend who had IVF and then the MC. After being diagnosed as having high NKC Mr S wants her to start ttc naturally with the superovulation programme. Have any of our pregnant ladies had this yet or are they still on the TTC list? She would love to know more about success rates - what people did, how long it took etc etc. She had years of unexplained infertility and I think three failed IVF attempts although one was a chemical and one was a mc that could have been a blighted ovum as no foetus was ever seen.

Any info/research/random speculation would be really great.

free I can only offer random speculation but my logic of why I went to see Mr S pre-IVF might be helpful to your friend (or at least give her a little optimism). I think I've said this on here before, so apologies if I am repeating myself. I got a diagnosis of "unexplained infertility" from the NHS, which basically means that they could find no reason why sperm was not meeting egg and resulting in a pregnancy - I was producing eggs, my hormones were ok, tubes were clear, Mr euro's SAs fine, etc. As your friend has the same diagnosis (but is a little further down the line than me) the same should apply. In fact, even more so because she had three IVF attempts which means that embryos were being created in the lab from the eggs she was producing and her husband's sperm. They wouldn't have implanted them if they were not good embryos. So the way I justified going for the immunology testing rather than just waiting for the IVF referral was: if sperm is meeting egg and making an embryo in me but it is not sticking for some reason, why put myself through the physical and emotional trauma of IVF for someone to create an embryo in a lab, only for my body to reject it. So really, natural ttc plus the immunology treatment should work for us (assuming there are no other undetected problems) but as we don't want to be taking the steroids for too many months without being pg, it makes sense to give the natural way a bit of a helping hand with the superov programme. I like logic and logically if the nk cells are the problem and they are being suppressed, we should get pregnant. It's oversimplifying things perhaps but it is how I have ordered things in my brain.

Scooter surely birthdays are about self-indulgence so people should let you have the kind of birthday you want. Wallow away, if that is what you need to do.

Family day for me too, at the in laws for Christmas celebration as BIL and his family are overseas for Xmas. It's been ok actually, helped by some red wine admittedly. Good chat with SIL about the treatment, my latest mc etc.

Welcome AandR, though sorry you find yourself here. There is a wealth of knowledge and experience on this thread and massive amounts of support which is the best thing I think. I haven't been to my GP at all, have just stomached the prescription costs. I haven't been able to quite face going and telling the nhs I'm pg and falling into whatever the system is that follows and having to cancel appointments. I've always thought I'd go if I needed to book an nhs 12 week scan/ nuchal and as that hasn't been necessary its never been more than a passing thought.

I out our tree up yesterday, but don't feel very christmassy. Nice to see the in laws today, but it's not been about the Christmas celebrations, just a big pile of food. And the red wine that obv made me post prematurely before...! :)

The only thing I could add to euro thing is - if the super ov doesn't work after 3 cycles I am considering IUI with it.

Other thing I have def said before is CGH with IVF but that only makes sense once nk cells and all "known" tests have been done as chromosomal test x

buster we used conception plus - a cheaper version of pre seed and we got it from amazon, it's supossed to provide a sperm friendly environment :)

So on the hcg front - I went to the hospital yesterday to get them done again, And they have over doubled but only to 209. They were 85 before. The Dr said the number is pretty irrelevant at this stage as long as they are doubling that is all they are concerned about. I mentioned ectopic ot blighted ovum and she said that you can not tell from hcg numbers. having them done again tomorrow. My EPAU are fab, I think because of my last MMC at the 12 week scan - they were all so horrified that they feel sorry for me xx
I seem to have gained a few days on the list so will change it in a min. I also have a scan booked - if I get that far. I am still not that hopeful but have had some reassuring symptoms so will cling to that for now xx

Sorry you've had such a crappy day Scooter. Really sad that you're not getting the kind of support you need in RL.

Good news about the doubling hcg levels Battery. I have heard the same as what the doctor said - that the actual numbers aren't important. When is your scan? It's great that you're EPAU are supportive. I have to say, I've been really lucky with mine too, but what's so shocking when I read these boards is that it seems very rare.

Kittens - I think you were travelling today? I hope you made it to your mum's safely.

Free - it's great that your friend has a plan with Mr S and isn't being pushed to do more IVF just at the moment. I have a friend who has been having round after round of IUI with no success at all, apart from one chemical. I can't help but wonder whether she has an immune issue or something. I don't think Mr S would be any help as she hasn't had any losses but I can't help feeling really frustrated for her.

Well, it was a very emotional reunion here. Lots of tears and cuddles but also lots of nice chats and I'm doing my best to keep jolly and get my mum smiling with silly stories etc. She is so vulnerable now, it's pretty hard to see. I'm thinking of you too PQ and sending you my love a I know this Christmas is going to be poignant for you and your family.

scooter what a pooey birthday. I bet you're glad that is over. It's still so soon after the m/c .

I don't know much about unexplained infertility but I do have a friend who had been ttc for 6 years with no success at all. She had 4 x iui then 2 x ivf and the second ivf was successful, she had a pretty much perfect pregnancy and gave birth to twins 2 weeks ago. She says that the thing she did differently for the successful time is that she took 8 months off completely to recover and chill out and worked on getting really fit. She wasn't skinny but not fat ( bmi probably 25- 26) but she did boot camp 3-4 times a week for about 6 months, pretty much cut totally down on alchohol etc. She reckons this really made a difference, especially to the quality and number of eggs retrieved.

free how are you getting on? I still have pretty much no symptoms other than horrible bloating. I felt quite reassured since my scan last week but the doubt is starting to creep in again. Last time it died about 9.5wks so I am approaching that same stage next week which makes me a bit nervous. Have tenatively booked in a reassurance scan on 29th dec in case I am stressing too much by then. Have u decided what to do about the 12 wk scan? I really don't want to return to the place I went to last time and discovered the mmc. The doc was so so awful, pretty much blaming me it, it was much more traumatic than it needed to be. First time I've seen my DH shout at someone to shut up like that. Not sure I can go back but he is supposed to be the best in the country and my other option would just be a sonographer, although one that does specialise in the nt scan.

Battery - good news that Hcg is increasing. Its definitely going in the right direction and if you are having symptoms even better. Fingers crossed for you and a positive early scan.

Kittens - I'm glad you are able to have some nice chats with your mum. The most important thing is you are together.

Charlie - what a horrible experience for your 12 week scan. I can't believe how insensitive some docs are. Maybe you should consider going somewhere else to avoid bad memories.

Well - waiting game here too. Symptoms are coming and going which is stressing me out. 5 weeks today so still early days I know. Did you ladies find the pred suppressed most symptoms and how much? Did you find you weren't as tired on the pred as usually around this stage of pregnancy all you want to do is sleep and I'm up at 5-6 in the morning and OK. I've also had an ongoing cold the whole time and my skin is horrible! Oh the joys:) Will be worth it in the end hopefully.

AandR hello fellow common room dweller - so pleased you got a diagnosis with Mr S, as you can see from our list he has a very good success rate. Hope you've been ok the past couple of months.

scooter sorry you had all that pressure to celebrate your birthday, but it's over now...and you don't have to think about it for a whole year. Hope your alternate good/bad day system means today you're having a good day.

free I'm not sure I can shed any light on whether superov will be more successful than IVF. All I know is that it's a hellavu lot cheaper - so definitely worth giving it a good for a few months to see if the steroids can at least help with implantation. euro seems to have summed it up well.

buster if you google 'sperm meets egg plan' I think you'll find a few sites that detail it. It's something along the lines of doing it every other day from when your period stops, and then when you get a positive opk doing it every day for three days, taking a day off then doing it one last time. I think.

battery good news on the more than doubling hcg. Will be keeping everything crossed for good scan news on the 29th. Good to hear that your EPU are being sympathetic.

cheerful what an awful experience that was...how dare the doctor blame you for miscarrying! Best in the country or not, it's proven that pg after mc is more likely to be successful with tlc. So I'd be tempted to go for the scan with a sonographer that has more bedside manner than a doctor who hasn't.

Waves to those I've missed - it's been quite busy on here. We were at the in-laws yesterday swapping pressies, poor DS has had a temperature most of the weekend so we had to keep it brief. I haven't spoken to my own mother since screaming at her Eastenders style last week that she'd 'ruined Christmas for everyone' with her knee-jerk decision to work the entire period. Yes, I handled it brilliantly [fsarcastic emoticon]. Normally don't bother with confrontation, but I somehow thought it was necessary to tell her how annoyed I was that she'd done that. Stupid really, because the rest of the night the baby was thumping me really hard - probably upset from all the adrenaline and stress hormones running through my body. And because I've seriously offended my mum, she'll probably decide to stop helping with childcare .

hi everyone , this is my first time on mumsnet. this is so great, its so nice to share all the stuff in my head! yesterday was my first day on prednisone for mc, my nk cells was 1.98 and dr s @ st heliers has me on 25mg for now. yesterday was my first day and ive had stomach pains on and off , i've ordered that book "coping with prednisone " to help manage all this but im freaking out at the poss side effects and trying very hard to have the attitude " dont borrow sorrow " and take one day at a time. im using the clearblue ovulation machine to tell me when im ovulating and i took the first one on day 7 which is early ! how is everyone else working it out, my clycle is 26 days and usually spot on
