Could I really be pregnant?

can you enlighten me - I am very confused. I had a mc last month at 5 weeks, bled on Tues 13th Dec for 4 days, so I assume on my 26 day cycle my af would be due Jan 7, last night I said to dh that I bet I am up the duff as felt pregnant, bought a First Response test today and was not going to test until the weekend but of course could not wait. Just did it and got a positive, and a very strong line as well. how can it be? Could I still have preg hormones kicking about from last month's pregnancy? Because i am testing so early the line should be a faint one if any. Can it really happen this quickly??

did you have a scan to ensure that you really did have a m/c?

kitegirl · 03/01/2006 14:41

No I didn't, I saw a doctor and based on what I told her she said that it was likely to have been a spontaneous m/c. I am sure I had a m/c though, I bled clots and lost all my pg symptoms. Which are now returning. maybe I should go have that scan then...

Kitegirl, could it have been implantation bleeding and not a miscarriage?

soapbox · 03/01/2006 14:44

Twin PG - and only lost one?

sparklymieow · 03/01/2006 14:44

My mum had a miscarriage then the following month she was told she was 8 weeks pregnant, the doctors think she was pregnant with twins and lost one.

withds 3 years ago at 8 weeks i started to lose, they wanted me to go for dc i refued glad i did because i was carring twins, and only lost one

munz · 03/01/2006 14:47

yep, happened to me, did u test 2 weeks after the m/c? my epu did for me which was neg, 2 weeks later I tested pos, so I know it's a seperate PG.

possibly a twin PG? my aunty had one of these later on but her symptoms stayed.

could you have fallen pregnant again??
have you had unprotected sex??

nutcracker · 03/01/2006 14:53

I also lost a twin at 9 weeks, had lots of cramping and clots but the other twin stayed put and is now 8 so it is possible.

kitegirl · 03/01/2006 14:53

no way... but I did a couple of tests the week I was miscarrying and got a faint lines, fainter than my initial test to confirm pg 5 days earlier (although I was in Portugal so not sure what the tests I bought were...), but the doctor said to ignore them as likely to have pg hormones for a week or so afterwards. It's only 3 weeks now after that supposed mc though. Oh hell. And I drank like a fish over Christmas.
