4w+5, bright red bleeding, cramps...please hold my hand :-(

....cos it's gone isn't it?

Got my BFP on Wednesday (and again to double check on Thursday), had had cramps on Monday prior to that but that happened to me with DC1 so thought nothing of it. For the past two hours or so I've been feeling crampy, checked an hour ago and there was bright red blood, which has continued since. Cramps have worsened too.

This is a chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage isn't it?

I'm almost afraid to ask if there's any hope, cos I know even though the chance of that being true is very remote, deep down I will cling on to that for the next two weeks (I know there's no point re-testing, I'll probably still get positives and it could take that long for the hormones to clear out if it is).

Is there anything I should do? I have an appointment with GP to confirm the pregnancy on Tuesday, but doubt there's any point going to that now.

I checked online for my local Early Pregnancy Unit and it says you should be 6 weeks gestation before contacting them, so that rules me out.

Any hand holding or advice greatly appreciated Sad Have told DH, poor guy we were at my parents with all my family and nieces and nephews, couldn't hold it in so took him aside to tell him, then we left pretty sharpish, I'm sure everyone was wondering what was up Sad

Oh I'm so sorry you're going through this.

Are you bleeding a lot? If so call nhs.

There is still hope but I know what you mean about almost not wanting to cling on to that. You will need to contact your GP tomorrow in any case.

Try and rest and be kind to yourself.

Thinking of you

Thank you for replying leftmy. No it's not a lot, it's like a normal period bleed. I put a tampon in initially but I've taken it out again, I'd prefer to see exactly how much there is IYKWIM.

My GP appontment was first thing Tuesday morning, I think I will stick with that...if the bleeding has stopped by then, maybe there is still hope...

I wouldn't use a tampon.

If you get extreme pain / shoulder pain / very heavy blood loss or are otherwise concered call ooh /nhs.

circumflex · 13/11/2011 16:54

Thanks leftmy, yes I'm conscious of looking out for symptoms like that which could be an ectopic. Will definitely leave the tampon out (googling here and have seen that advised).

I'm sorry you're going through this. When it happened to me at your stage I tested negative on cbd 3 days later. So sorry.

Bibbo · 13/11/2011 17:13

poor you circumflex. I am also in similar state of limbo with blood loss etc and not knowing if I am still pg or not. It is awful not knowing isn't it.

If I were you I would try contacting the EPU anyway, as they should be able to do an internal scan earlier than 6wks. Last week I got an internal scan at my local EPU at 5wks+2. It didn't show a heartbeat as it was too early but it showed the yolk sac and everything that you would expect to see at that stage. then you can have another scan at 6wks to check presence of heartbeat etc.

Also - having had 2 previous m/cs I would say that the most definite sign is whether you are losing big clots as well as blood - if there aren't any clots then don't lose all hope just yet :)

Am keeping fingers crossed for you (and myself at the same time) xx

Glimpers · 13/11/2011 17:19

I will come and hold your hand circumflex as am going through the exact same thing as of an hour ago Sad

Pancakeflipper · 13/11/2011 17:22

Holding your hand Circumflex and also your Glimpers. Really tight with lots of love.

Glimpers · 13/11/2011 17:26

Thank you pancake DH thousands of miles away with work so really struggling Sad

circumflex · 13/11/2011 17:33

Bibbo, glimpers, so sorry you're going through this too. When I think of how happy we were this morning I can't believe this is happening.

Pancake, AP, thanks for holding tight.

Bleeding and cramps continue, no clots, just bright red blood.

Pancakeflipper · 13/11/2011 17:48

It's the worst thing because you cannot do anything. Deep breathing and tissues to sob into...
Bibbo - sorry didn't see your post, holds hands with Bibbo too.

Have you got anyone with a nice shoulder to cry onto Glimpers?

Glimpers · 13/11/2011 17:53

No pancake just trying to hold it together until I've got DD into bed, she's just assumed I've been crying because I'm missing daddy, bless her.

circumflex · 13/11/2011 19:19

Ok sorry if tmi but have passed a small clot. I'm definitely out.

Thanks all for the hand holding.
