Hi everyone,
I am wondering if you can help!

I have been feeling a little bit off colour and emotional for a few days and ended up taking a hpt this morning (clear blue) it came back neg.
I took one this afternoon and there is a very very faint line on it. I was a little unsure of the result and so ran off to boots to buy another test- this time a Boots own brand one. it came back negative- so now i am a little unsure of the original positive test. Can anyone help? Thank you!!

Helly

I have heard it said that false positives are much less common than false negatives.

I would imagine that either the Boots test was less sensitive, or that the level of pregnancy hormone (HCG?) was more concentrated in the early morning urine sample.

I'd assume that you are pregnant, and test again in a couple of days (or do as I did and run out straight away to buy loads of tests strips!) Grin

The 99p shop sell a pack of three, just do one a day for the next three days. I thought you couldn't get a false positive, there's either HCG or there's not - false negative being not enough to flag on a test.

I don't want to be all doom and gloom but the clearblue + tests are notorious for giving false positives, it's happened to
me. I no longer trust them at all Angry. Of course it could be a true positive and the second test could just be less sensitive. If I was you I'd go out tomorrow and invest in a first response. Good luck x

And use first morning pee, it's the most concentrated. When was your period due?

HellyWelly1 · 11/11/2011 10:28

I was due on the 29th Oct. Around the 4th nov I started to get a really light brownish discharge with a couple of stringy bits in it. Nothing massive and I didn't use any tampons etc. I thought it had stopped but when I went to the loo now, it was there. It's only when I wipe. Sorry to be a bit overshare!!
